Next year (if you can remember this for that long Wink

) when someone says "Top o' the mornin' to ya" on St. Paddy's Day, give them back the true Irish reply:

PS - I can still type with the rest of my fingers. I've been doing that for several weeks now because that finger is painful.

I had a tendonitis at the achilles tendon once.
Painful!
The worst was when my physiotherapist did a profund massage on it to break the nodules that appeared. Man, I almost fainted!
I really felt my tendon being pulled in all directions in his sheath.
And then I was applied some eletric patches that made pass some current in my tendon and heated it.

OK let's stop...

Whew. Finally recovering from SPD.

Good luck to you Titania. On the morning of my surgery a nurse took a permanent marker and put a huge X on the part that was supposed to be worked on. The surgeon came in to look at it again and asked why I put an X on it. I told him it wasn't me. He said it was confusing. Was the x to mark the spot or not to cut there. After the nurse heard the story, she took a marker and wrote "This side" and "Not this side" on me.

You'd be surprised how many times they operate the wrong arm/leg/..

When my dad had to be operated for his meniscus they started preparing his right knee. He had to be operated on the left. The nurse looked at him with big eyes, apologised for the error and desinfected the other knee.

At the operating table, the doctor stood at the right side of the table; he asked to be sure "you do know it's the left knee, right?" The doc looks at him, at his papers and says "Hm. Good thing you told me."

You'd think they look at the papers before they actually start doing something Confused

When I had the same surgery (different fingers) last year, the doctor came up to me in the hallway outside the OR and said, "Do you know which fingers I'm operating on?" I pointed to the afflicted fingers, and he drew lines on my palm where the incisions would be.

When I had laser treatments in my eye, the nurse would write "Y" above the left eye. One time she started to write it above my right eye, and I said, "No, it should be the other eye." She checked her paperwork and said, "No, it's the right eye." I explained that a laser treatment on my right eye would be impossible, as the right eye is not only totally blind but filled with silicon oil and has massive cataracts. She called the doctor, who told her it should be the left eye. Sheesh!

Ohhh, those stories do not add to my confidence. I am glad I have confidence in Steward.

I know mechanics have difficulty with descriptions because it depends on whether the car owner is describing the problem from inside the car or outside the car. Most mechanics stand at the hood of the car and left is on their left looking from the hood (bonnet) to the trunk (boot) of the car.

Most drivers describe it from the driving position in the car.

Maybe there isn't much difference between a mechanic and a doctor! Shocked
