British scammer involved

I've been dealing with a Nigerian scammer and they've involved someone who by all accounts sounds as if they are from the U.K. They even called on a U.K cellphone, do you think I should call the police?

If you're sure it was a call from a UK mobile, you may have something, but if it was a 'call me on my mobile +4470 xxxx xxxxx' type arrangement it could have been a free worldwide redirect (+4470 numbers look to most people like UK mobile phone numbers, but can terminate anywhere in the world)

The guy was a Brit as well, and not a trace of African accent.

Send all his details to a moderator to check out, they can check up if he's complicit or a fellow victim (eg a cheque mule) and help either warn him, or see if they can get him closed down. They will need everything including all headers, etc though!

You can PM the scammer info to any moderator of your choice.
The police probably won't be interested at this stage but may become so if there is sufficient evidence of wrongdoing.

Some scammers romance ones for example sometimes ask victims to send them a mobile phone.
He may be in the UK, but it would need more evidence.

If you have his trust enough, offer to send him something very personal by certified post. This can narrow down the search for him. I'm using this to send a MCTN on a Western Union transfer. I won't email it. Had a transfer stolen that way once. Lost 5,000 in the deal. Shocked

Sometimes a mobile phone is roaming and not even in the country. See if he can pick up a certified post.

If he agrees to it, give the name and tracking number to LE. They may possibly be interested in being there to monitor the pickup. Twisted Evil

Another tool to use is read notify. Google it. it's your friend. Link to a photo somewhere. Wait for him to view it. Bingo, IP address unles he used a proxy server.

All good ideas. How about arranging a meet in a public place and then go there and film/photograph him. Maybe somewhere touristy where cameras won't be noticed.

Webcam is another possibility. You may have seen Shiver's bait on some lad which he caught on a web cam and published on here.

What's the format? Can you reasonably post something, forms maybe? Webcams are usually so wide angled and refresh so slowly, you usually see a few pixels for a few frames, but if you can find out where in the UK he claims to be maybe we can narrow things down a bit?
