I know you guys will appreciate this:

I got a standard NOK scam, with the usual, "My client has the same last name as yours" crap. So I wrote back asking what that name is.

The lad obviously Googled my Gmail addy and found the cat rescue site I run, called "***** Rescue" which he thinks is my name.

The clever little devil sent this reply:

The best thing to do is to have one or more e-mail addresses used EXCLUSIVELY for baiting, thus providing no clues which would allow a mugu to track you back.

Least he made an effort i had one who used my email as the last name so i was c0zmo b@rkinson and my relative was charles c0zmo b@rkinson or something along those lines anyway.

I don't run that rescue anymore and totally forgot my email addy was on it. I just changed it.

Let him know that the sir name "Rescue" is very common and garners more respect than "Sir/madam". It is a great opportunity for disinformation! Twisted Evil

I had one lad trawl through this forum and although the thread I had written didn't refer to him by name he put two and two together and came back at me.

Fortunately I turned the tables on him saying that it was not me etc. long story ensues. He now believes that he ended up tipping his own hand that he was a scammer and lost out because he told me what he had seen.

Sometimes it can work in your favour! Google is too good sometimes though!!

I always assume lads google. It's like using protection ... better to have it and not need it then not be able to perform at all.

Ummm naaaa ... that doesn't sound right at all.

Let me get back to you.

I've come across lads who are real skittish lately - always wanting to verify something about me but never wanting my characters to ever know a thing about them. No fun at all really. Still, I act dumb and try never to give away anything that might educate them.

^ Sign of the times, I sent out 10 replies to scams, which i did over the weekend, I only got two takers.

I still think today's climate makes the lads nervous as they now just don't know who to trust. They must be affecting themselves as they might latch on to someone genuine who then becomes suspicious that they are a scammer when they are not providing them with any information but only keep asking for it and want the money way too quickly.

Lads have to cultivate their victims like we cultivate them and if they don't they will keep loosing out. What a shame!!!!!!!
