I've read about what Badgers are, but it doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

First of all, what proof is there that Badgers exist? (I'm not saying they don't, but how do we know? Have some of you been baited by a Badger who comes clean at the end or something?)

Second of all, where do Badgers originate from? Typically from "Victim" Countries OR from "Scammer" Countries?

Finally, what's the motivation behind being a badger? I just don't see the point. Sure you waste the Baiter's time, but let's be honest, us baiters have time to kill if we do this for a hobby! Smile

Plus, it still gives the Baiter the entertainment value, so it's not like it's a total loss.

Just trying to figure out the mentality behind being a Badger....

Badgers are rarely, if ever found in the wild. I've been here 3 years, and came across 1 badger in that time. They are *likely* to come from "victim" countries, as they understand the principle of baiting, and decide to turn it against us, but they can be from anywhere, as badgers are basically rogue baiters, and baiters come from all over.

Regarding proof, it's not hard for a baiter to tell when someone is taking the piss - it's rare that a badger can act totally like a scammer - there are spelling, and grammar differences in the way they normally write, something that is easy for a baiter to pickup.

I don't see the point either. It's pointless being a badger, they're like lad huggers. They make our job harder, and waste our time.

Reading your sentence about motivation, it seems to contradict itself?

? Three years and I have never even heard of one let alone met one. Sure, I have met some lads who were so dumb that I swore they were just pulling my leg but in the end it turned out they were just...dumb. Tell Fati the worst romance scammer ever hi from me, if you happen meet it.

We also get occasional trolls here in Eater, but they're not the same thing. They are just lame. Come to think of it, we haven't had a good troll for a while now.

What I meant in my motivation statement was that a badger may think they are wasting the baiter's time, but really baiters have time to kill anyways. Plus, the baiter would still be getting entertained by the badger even if they think it's a real lad, so it's not like a badger REALLY gets the best of the baiter in the end anyways.

In the end, the only thing the baiter loses out on is the satisfaction of knowing they were actually helping potential victims, but there's plenty more scammers in the sea to take care of.

whats a troll? i have heard the term but I have never gotten a definition. and for badgers, I thought they were an urban legend

I believe the definition of a troll is somebody who posts on forums, being either obnoxious or rude, with the sole purpose of getting a rise out of the normal people.

The reason we don't have many Trolls here is the Mods built the Tiger Pits all around the compound.

As for Badgers, they are related to the tooth fairy... Laughing

Don't waste your time. 'Badger' was a name given to people who thought it amusing to bait baiter's and laugh at their own limited cleverness.

I think it was a shorter-lived fad than the hula-hoop.
Fell in to dis-favor it was so easy to spot.

I've been baiting for about three years, on and off, and not once have I encountered a badger- although some of my lads, when they find out they've been played, do try and make out they knew what I was doing all along. Laughing

The best defence is to simply not put your catcher account anywhere other than the guestbooks we use to get our spam n scam emails.

^^These days, normally not, although some of them eventually seem to twig after a while.

I used to do it when they grew tired of my antics and dropped me. Nowadays when it's time to finish, I sometimes have my character killed/raped/kidnapped/whatever and blame the lad. Then I tell him I'm going to get the police onto him and never reply again.
