Gi guys,
I'm a journalist with BBC News. I joined last month to get some help with a news item I was working on. I just wanted to post to say thanks to everyone who contacted me - and who assisted in the investigation. The results are here:

Nice piece of baiting but next time you need to get the scammer to London. Safaris are for lads, not baiters Wink

I hope you will continue to make these scamms public in order to raise awareness about them.

FYI - the same scams happened with the New Orleans floods, the Asian Tsunami, the American 9/11 tragedy. These people have no morals, no ethics they're just greedy and lazy. Totally despised, not worthy of being called "human beings".

These lice will pick the food out of corpse's teeth. FYI the problem is actually much worse than you may be aware because once scammers get hold of a victim, they keep coming back (often many months later) and pass that person around among their criminal gang. Victims are more likely to be re-scammed than someone else ...

Thank you tricpic. Great reporting. The director of SOS hits it right on the head when he says that these scammers are not stealing from the donors. They are ripping off the victims of funds intended for them.

Thanks, NN, but BBC deserves most of the credit. I was just in a position to "sell" the scammer on an idea. The folks at BBC took the lead once the bait was taken and put in the majority of the effort. Once BBC made contact with 1ker, I only provided some advice to BBC and some motivation to the scammer.

All kidding aside, I am more than happy to help BBC make this creep freak right out of his shoes. Hopefully, as a result, a few viewers will avoid falling into one of these scams and instead donate their money to somebody who will actually put it to good use. That is plenty enough reward for me. Besides, it was a fun bait to work on AND 1ker still thinks Rev. M4ys is legit so I get to keep tormenting him as well! It's ALL good!

@Vampiremerchant - Yeah, that is the most amazing part of this whole saga. How it is that 1ker hasn't made the connection between the BBC film crew and my character is beyond me. What is even better is that there are a whole bunch of others who are baiting him as well (after being referred to 1ker by my Rev. M4ys character) so all those baiters can keep working him, too. Say it again, it's ALL good.

Good show, tricpic. I heard the report on BBC World this morning (courtesy of my local NPR station) and felt gratified that an organization with a wide reach like BBC is getting the word out about these gutter slugs.

@NN: anybody who gets a lad to shed his shoes and drop his fake ID deserves some kind of recognition.

Hrmm according to that article one of the scammers is known as a "Mr D@\/1d 1$c0 Ik3r". Isn't someone here baiting said scammer as of right now? I know I have seen that name here. At least the "1k3r" part....

Sure. I can send the camera crew and security guard a Pink Audi, but they wouldn't understand and we'd have a awkward moment. Then I'd have to fake a seizure so they leave quietly...
