Hello All,

I'm a newbie to the whole scambaiting thing, but I've been doing a lot of reading about 419 scams and baiting through this site. I've gotten lots of emails so far and responded to about 6 of them so far with no further response. How long on average did it take for you guys to get your first bait going? Just curious...It looks like there's a lot of good info in these forums. Thanks for the help guys! Smile

Read the Eater University
Read the stickies
Apply for a mentor (in Scambaiting help hints and tips)
Bait safe! - Do not leave a trace to your real life.

Maybe you should write to more than 6? I always try to keep my emails to lads as close sounding as a real victim would be.
Nothing to silly right off the start, just simple and curious like a real person would be.
Then the crazy silliness can come later when the money requests come in.

When I stated almost 4 years ago, I read for a couple weeks or so before doing my first bait. We didn't have a university back then. What the others have said, reading as much as you can first gives you a great start.

I'm new as well and didnt start reading Eater U until about three days into my first bait. Big Mistake! the info there is great and much appriciated. As for a mentor, I think they are hard to get, I still dont have one but can always get good answers to my questions on the forums

I've been lurking for a long time. I just started baiting last week. I pulled 4 recent excess letters from here and have 3 active baits going now. Playing a straight bait seems to work well for getting them started.

My 3 baits are a lottery I won. I've been passed up the line to the lawyer (Barrister) already for some paperwork. Wink

I have someone needing moving a trunk. I'm driving the guy nuts as I have worked with a shipping company, so I'm sending my guys for the pickup and they will take care of all customs, storage fees, paperwork, etc when they arrive. This of course is driving the lad totally nuts.

My third bait is an earthquake victim. The best news is my church (real) is already working with a mission (real) so we have on the ground info of the conditions there. The mission is a school and after the quake, the school grounds having the nearest open space has become a refugee camp with over 1,000 residents. The need for clean drinking water and sanitation is real. The lines at Western Union that start at 1AM is real. Western Union corruption and them taking a cut (illegal) is real. A shortage of cash is real.

With this info, I let my pet know of the problems sending money and for his safety, I'm not sending western union but directly sending to the school. We have a box going out next week. Let us know what you need.

Unfortunately for him, he is in Nigeria. Wink

This is driving him nuts as he is trying to get me to send money some other way for the medicine he needs. It is a fact that medicine is in very short supply due to the injuries related to the quake and the infections from poor sanitation. Sending his meds in the package is much better than sending cash.. Send a copy of his perscription, etc.. This lad is on the verge of a breakdown. Wink

Good luck with you baits. Play straight and then make it difficult. It's working great for me.

If you wish to donate to the cause (it is needed) support the American Red Cross.

Google maps has great photos of the area. Go to sat view and zoom in. White tents and blue tarps are in almost all open areas. Clean drinking water and sanitation are real problems now. Provide real support, but not to a scammer.
