there was a rotten scam going on near me rewcently. A girl would hang around near the bars and pubs in my area approaching strangers and telling them she had been attacked and needed money for a cab, and sporting a very convincing looking "wound" on her face ie makeup.

Shes been arrested now because it gets a bit obvious if you do it to the same people every weekend but it makes me mad that if I ever see a girl in genuine distress saying she's been attacked I am going to think twice before helping her.

These people curdle the milk of human kindness

It sounds like an upmarket version of the 'can I have £1 towards my bus fare?, I've lost my money', very common in these parts.

Our train station has just had the new ticket machines installed which means you can put a pound coin in for them which pisses on their bonfire.

That said I did once offer to put the 78p or whatever in the machine to make up the fare and got taken up on the deal. The guy was genuine and I felt a right twat Laughing

I'd be more likely to give them something if they didn't lie - 'Can I have £1 towards a Mcburger / my next hit?'.

Agreed. Honesty should be rewarded.

Suprised he didn't try to sell you a leather coat or some speakers while he was at it, these %^&* are always on their way back from a trade exhibition somewhere.

It's usually gold jewellery or socket sets when I get stopped. I did buy one of the socket sets for £2 once just to see how bad they were. The answer was 'pretty fucking bad'. I gave them to my young nephew who was quite impressed at having some real tools like his dad so it turned out to be a bargain in the end. Smile

I do wonder why the guy was bothering though. Even if he was paying 10p for the sets it didn't seem worth going through the pitch just for £1.90 profit.

It also makes you wonder where they get the stock from. Presumably there's a wholesaler somewhere who specialises in utterly worthless crap.
