Hey guys, new here.
Thought I'd have a go at scambaiting after dealing with one of these lads on craigslist. I had a post advertising computer services (with an ip tracker) and noticed a hit from Lagos before receiving an email to "set-up" several laptops for a guy in Utah. The whole thing seemed fishy and culminated in him sending me a check for payment. I was supposed to wire the amount after my fee to his "shipper" ( in Texas) and they would ship the laptops! I did some online research and turned up your site. I LOVE IT OOOOOOO! haha.
I could see the gullible and desperate falling for this easily. I gave the check to the cops, but they pretty much told me what I expected, that they would and could do nothing. So, Figure I can do my part. Thanks for all the resources guys.
I posted a bait ad on craigslist looking to buy a newer jeep for $3000 or under. Figure that might snag a lad or two. I'm anxious to get started. If anybody wants to message me some leads they're not planning on following up, I'd appreciate it. |

Don't worry, I've spent the past few days spare time digesting all the info I can find on and related to 419 scams. I even watched the "I go chop your dollar" video, gotta admit its catchy. I got the damn song stuck in my head now! My name is not Todd Bowman, I just wanted a fairly believable name in case I was dealing with lads in the US. I'd really like to get somebody busted if I can. I got a couple questions though.
1) Should I use a proxy to hide my IP when I email? If so anybody know a good one?
2) Anyone know a good ip tracing program? I used to use neotrace, but they dont seem to be around anymore and my old neotrace program does not seem to work like it used to, EVERY IP I trace seems to terminate in west africa.
I'm gonna respond to a few of the surplus letters, thanks for the tip. It's so funny how anxious I am to get spam. I even signed a bunch of guestbooks and everything! nothing yet. I haven't even had a foreign hit on my craigslist ad, though its had over 80 views! go figure. Craigslist seems to be a fertile ground for 419ing. Those are the bastards I really want to get. BTW, my favorite scambait I've read so far, the guy had the lads copy the ENTIRE Hary potter and the chamber of secrets by hand!! Thats funny right there, I dont care who ya are. |
