[This site looks very interesting,had an weird scammer but after talking with another site [The Game Forum] I was forwarded here and I joined too.] Hi to all!!!!!!!! I'm involved with a cell phone company and my contract of 3yrs is up next month, i thought Id give a call to find out details on what to do for a new contract BECAUSE the other COMPANY I dealt with didnt and in a month you can rack up a bill . WELLL I found out that the contract isnt up until next year????? I went thru my bills and found the very first bill 2007. Called them back and I was told....BECAUSE I GOT A PROMOTIONAL PHONE IN 2008 MY CONTRACT WAS EXTENDED A YEAR//IWAS NOT AMUSED. THEY DIDNT SAY THIS OR I WOULDNT OF GOT THE PHONE.....CELL BILLS CAN BE QUITE HIGH IF YOUR ON A FAMILY PLAN...IVE CONTACTED THE HEAD PEOPLE TO STATE HOW I WAS WRONGED AND LIKELY THERE WILL BE SOME SORT OF SMUT THAT THEY DREAM UP TO HAVE IT ALL NICE AND LEGAL..WISH I COULD FIGHT THIS AND WIN BUT THE GREEN BACKS JUST ARENT THERE. i DON'T EVEN KNOW IF THERE IS AN ORGANIZATION IN ONTARIO THAT STILL LOOK INTO IT//BETTER BUSINESS ASS. IM JUST NOT SURE WHOOO TO CALL MAYBE THE GHOSTBUSTERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOL [/b]

I'm sorry about your cell phone dispute. I had a similar experience myself a couple of years ago. After getting no satisfaction from the provider I filed a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission, which licenses telecommunication companies. (Surely there must be something like it in Canada.) I was amazed at how quickly they responded, and even more amazed at how quickly my cell phone company made things right. I ended up with so many credits and bonuses that my rate became ludicrously cheap.

I don't know if it's the same in Ontario but here it seems that phone companies take inquiries from the FCC very seriously.

Unfortunately I don't know of any websites or forums that can help. This sort of dispute is certainly outside our purview since we concentrate on advance fee fraud. But if you check around I'm sure you can find how to contact whatever licensing authority controls cell phone companies in your province.

Sorry to hear about your troubles, surely there is some ombudsman that can follow it up for you.

Other than that the only advice I can give you is to not write in caps, its hard on the eyes and makes reading your post a chore.

have had no answer from the bbc. but went snooping again after the FCC info and now in Canada weee have the CCT. Recontacted cell phone company found out they made a mistake but my contract[since I have a family plan with three phones which were not ordered at same time I have three different stop dates,who would of dreamed that up!!! they get you coming and going].....so i think i will not do a thing and just go with the flow.
Hopefully anyone who is in a contract with a cell phone company,reads this and uses this info for themselves thanks to all again bp
