It's hard to believe that if it isn't true that anyone would be distressed by it! I do think that wealthy nations have historically taken advantage of poorer nations, the rich pillage the poor, organized religion is designed to give power to old white men, corporations buy politicians and that gay marriage is a really good thing. So, I see no reason to disclaim those things. All the rest of his rantings were noise to me. If my politics offend anyone, I'm OK with that but really won't discuss it further.

True or not, it's irrelevant. The lad is using that as an excuse to scam people and destroy their lives. That is much worse than what he is saying he is against.

ABSOLUTELY AGREE! (pardon the yelling) and I apologize for getting off topic. I will restrain myself in the future. There are just so many amazing ideas here, my mind starts reeling and then my mouth follows suit.

You're right. He's holding a grudge for something that happened way before he was even conceived and using it as a convenient crutch to ruin other people.

This bullshit reason for scamming is doctrine now. There are millions of people leading legitimate lives in his country. Hard working honest people who get off their arses and do like the rest of us. It really is no excuse for ruining the lives of others.

It might be worth remembering that in the whole sordid and shameful history of slavery, the Western involvement was but a blip compared to, for example, that of the Arab world, whose depradations lasted from before the eighth century CE (at least) until the modern age.

Maybe tell our Lad he should be going after Saudis instead of Americans.

@Ladilicious - I agree that this is not the place to argue history, politics, or national morality. Were this a different venue, I would happily break down the lad's rant and point out the numerous factual and logical errors he makes in his attempt to justify his criminal activity.

However, as a red-blooded American boy with family roots deep in this country's history (and with considerably more than a passing knowledge of same), I do take exception to the notion that the lad's "whole rant was accurate". There is, after all, a big difference between a "thread of truth" and a "whole rant". And, yes, I agree there are a couple of particles of truth in the lad's rant. So, I will assume that your initial statement was just a bit of loose language and leave it at that.

Oh, one other thing, my goal is to obstruct scamming. Making a scammer's life "painful" is just the amusing by-product of the larger objective.

Can we still be friends? Smile

My people (as they say in New England) settled Ipswitch, MA, in 1629, so I lay a strong claim to America and laugh at newbies like the DAR girlies! I am a veteran of the Vietnam Era. But I also marched with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. when he gave his famous "I have a dream!" speech (I am the white speck next to the trees next to the reflecting pond in the newspaper photos) and recognize that sometimes current injustices get a bit generalized. I learn much more listening to accusations against me than by putting my fingers in my ears and going "Yada yada yada ... I can't hear you!" It doesn't matter if he's right or has all his facts right so long as he believes he is right.

But everyone who has stepped in to suggest he is wrong or this isn't the place to argue it and that it is certainly irrelevent to his scamming is correct. And I have no animosity to those disagree with me, who correct me or who get pissed at me. I have no obligation to react in kind. So, Honey, sure we can be friends. LOL. Geez, I really gotta' be more careful around here. Wink

What a cretin introducing race into a purely criminal debate. Scammers have victims all over the world, with no "oops, I'm so sorry, here's your money back, I didn't realise you were a naturaliosed Afriican American". It's a lazy excuse, and demonstrably untrue.

Also remember, slavery existed in Africa long before the white slave traders arrived, and the African slave traders were quite happy to sell their own countryfolk. No, it's not right, but that was addressed in the West 200 years ago, so get over it.

Criminals are criminals, no matter what ignorant and pathetic excuses they try to come up with. Trying to cloud the debate with race is just lazy, mass-ad-hominem style attacks and is wholly groundless and should be ignored.
