I went to all the effort of printing out my character's claim certificate, signing it, and scanning it.

Hopefully that will demonstrate suitable compliance.

Because I've just mentioned the difficulty of getting to Western Union. There is (genuinely) no WU in my character's town. And she can't drive or use public transport. Which is a bit of a problem. Though she does live very near her very helpful bank. Wink

I didn't need to do that.

My character simply didn't like the look of that bank account.

So, this morning, the Lad sent her a different one.

Italian again, completely different name.

Haban, you can have your own piggy for reporting an identical bank account. Alan will be pleased to receive the same account more than once, even used by the same Lad. It is all 'evidence' for him.

Here comes two pigies - two, because I've got sent new account ( I guess that it's the same that you guys got ) and then I was able to check the first one and it seems to be valid account. Both reported.

BTW Branwen, why you had to print and sign the lad's form ? There is no useful info there, which means that he will not check it at all. I send broken file ( from http://www.xnet.se/fd/ ) and never got complain for it

This was only the third thing from a Lad I've ever bothered to print!

He might have looked at it (or seen it in the preview) - he's not a stupid Lad. And I wanted to reassure him that my character was compliant and willing .... despite having no telephone, and despite being totally unable to go to WU or MG .... and before she totally fails with the bank transfer.

Insurance policy, if you like.

The M4rtins St4nhope account was the first one my character received. Yes, it is 'complete', because the IBAN consists of:

Country Code (and check digit)
Bank Name Code
Bank Branch Code
Account Number

- So that alone, along with the name of the account holder, is sufficient to report to Alan.

My character didn't like the look of it either, though, hence the second account arriving.

Invoices: if you really want to get an Invoice out of a Lad, this can help:

It is simple enough even for a Lad to understand, and they tend to like this part:

Newbie just following along. Could someone point me to an explanation of bank details ... no idea what IBAN, SWIFT, etc. are and how one can check them.

Basically, they are bank identifier codes. A SWIFT Code has 8 or 11 characters, made up of:

Bank Code
Country Code
Location Code
plus optional Branch Code.

And IBAN has up to 28 characters, and is made up of the same thing (in a different order) plus the account number.

(I think Wikipedia has some explanations of bank codes, but they are a bit too complicated for me. A Google search should find a few sites that will explain more if you have a bigger brain than I have.....)

If you google IBAN checker or IBAN validator or SWIFT checker/validator, you will find some sites you can use to check whether or not they are 'valid' - BUT ..... results do vary. One site can say 'yes', and another site can say 'no'.

So don't 100% rely on them, but instead use this as a guide:

- If the Lad is telling you about a bank account, assume that he has invented it; but:

- if a Lad has given you bank details to transfer money into, assume that it is real.

The former should be ignored, and the latter reported to Alan. Alan won't mind if you send him bank details that turn out to be incorrect: I've done it, and all he did was write a rather amusing little email (about the Bad Lad) back to me! Just make sure that you are reporting an account that a Lad expects you to send money to, not one that is just listed as part of his scam (eg 'Here are my dead father's bank details').

Well, after saying that, I went to write to the Lad that this had been done, but as I was writing it, this email arrived:
