Jay vs. Conan. Where do you stand?

This might not be a big deal across the pond, but "The Tonight Show" is huge over here. I grew up with Johnny Carson (best ever!), and suffered through the Leno years. Now NBC wants to muscle out Conan and bump him back after the failed Leno experiment, I cry foul! Conan has grown up over the years and is now a perfect fit for the show. Jay is about as exciting as toast.

This may become heated, so I advise the Mods to be on their toes.

I like Jay Leno and liked Conan's other show. I haven't watched Conan on the tonight show enough to have an opinion about him there. I don't know about this situation with bumping him off the tonight show but it sounds like a crappy thing to do to him.

I think...all these late night talk shows, same recycled drivel. Re-runs of the 80's prime time shows (Knight Rider, A-Team, etc.) would be an upgrade.

If they want ratings let Jay and Conan wrestle it out ala Andy Kaufmann style. Perhaps have a zombie Andy Kaufmann officiate?

You're right. Leno is totally boring, it's like hanging out with your grandma and her friends at the nursing home. Conan is a hip, swinging party that you don't want to leave even though you have to get up for work in the morning.
Although, if Leno had some Zombies on the show...

Edited to add that Bagerbait and I are on the same wavelength but he's a faster typist!

Rather like debating the merits of McDonald's vs. Burger King after having grown up eating steak and gourmet burgers cooked by a master chef.

Zombies would improve the quality of both shows, though.....or demonically possessed, bacon-cooking, help-mates.

I prefer McDonald's over Burger King but it's not because of the burgers, it's because of the fries.

I didn't think Jay was boring. I used to watch the Tonight show with him pretty frequently . . . until I joined Eater. I liked that he would often giggle and had a naughty boy sort of demeanor.

If you're privileged enough to live out here in the west... (God's country, that is). You can always partake of the bounty that is a Carl's Jr. Six Dollar Burger (whose title has lost its ironic luster) with their thick delicious natural cut fries... or if you're feeling exotic: the criss-cut fries.
If you're unfortunate enough to live on the dark side of the continent, you may be able to find a Hardee's, but no promises on all the deliciousness.

No, seriously folks, you have not had a burger until you have traveled to Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan (US side) for a Genuine West Pier Double Bacon Cheese Burger. Nothing like it in the world!

Letterman got to political for me (we watch for his antics, not his opinion), Leno seems to stay mostly in the middle like his predecessor, Carson (zings both sides equally). How about a tag team match. Letterman and Conan v. Leno and Kimmel. Officiated by zombies.
