How long does your average bait last?

I have baited a few now and I reckon my average bait length is around 7 days although I have a few which have gone for a couple of weeks.

Interested to know what everyone else finds and how these compare?

I, in a co-bait with jose_cuervo, have an active one going for over 18 months. I've had others that die in a week or two. It's hard to quantify, but if you insist, my average bait lasts a month or two.

As long as you need them to. Depends what you want. You can be a serial baiter, lots of quick timewasters, or you can work toward an aim, like a safari, which takes more time.

On average, mine last a month or so. But I am big. Wink

I go for bank accounts, some maybe a couple of weeks, usually a month or more if they are worthwhile. It all depends on the Lad, and how gullible they can be once they smell the money. 3 months was the longest before he dropped me, then I picked him up again and got 2 more accounts.

Craig is really big, I've seen pictures. Shocked

Just wanted to add...
Some people here have baits that last for years.

Take 'Mary Manto' for example. Although I have sent exactly 9 responses, consisting of little more than "How can I help you?", this lad has been e-mailing me regularly for nearly 2 1/2 years!

Sometimes, just ignoring them works best! Twisted Evil

Average bait length? Hard to say... I tend to send out a lot of "feelers" and then focus on a select few particularly entertaining playmates. I generally ignore those who don't respond promptly to my initial offering. So, my baits are either really short (just a few emails) or much longer. I currently have 3 working that are over 2 months old with the oldest going on 4 months. I don't have a lot of time to spend on this so I like to focus my attention on a limited number and try to drag it out as long as possible. When I finally get dropped by somebody then I focus my attention on a new toy.

none of my baits are 'average' Wink

but seriously... i have one that has lasted 6 months, nearly as long as i have been here.
but i'd normally expect them to last at least 3 months.

In my (rather limited) experience, 3 weeks is something of a point of no return. Beyond that, they're likely to stay. I've had maybe a dozen fizzle out in the early stages, often with a delivery failure notification, and a handful that went for months or are still going.

If you find you're getting dropped fast, it could be because you're being too pushy - baiting is like fishing, you don't just land the fish, you have to play it slowly to reel it in and wear it out. Be a compliant, if slightly dumb victim. Do (or at least appear to attempt to do) everything your lad asks, slowly, maybe mailing back for clarification on some details ("What is Western Union?", "Can I just mail you a cheque?", etc). One question per email, one email per lad per day - take it nice and slow and gentle as opposed to rushing in and you appear more like a real vic, which lads like.

Remember, every trophy, every safari, starts with a period of building trust and rapport by appearing like a real victim!

Thanks everyone,

I have tried a few of the different formats and have found that I drag it out if I want but I guess we can all be a little impatient sometimes and want to see some results!

I was a little worried that my baits were too short but I guess if the lads invest a little time and have failed scams more often this has an impact on them too.

My best moment so far was realising that one lad had spent almost 8 hours trying to get a couple of hundred dollars in one day, that gave me a good feeling because I know he was totally tied up in Secur*ty Sh*eld for the day (thanks for that amazing tool btw). I spent less than 1 week baiting him but the end result was fantastic, I had him begging me for help by the end of the day, I guess he was a newb too!

Like Raga Man I don't have a great deal of time to spend on this but I do plan to be around for a while, I looked at this a couple of years ago so I am not totally new to the concept.
