Lad curse strikes! I managed to f*** up my left wrist.

Due to several factors (including WUI - walking under influence and wet grass) I managed to slip on a 45 degree slope. I hit quite hard a parked car and the pavement. No scratches on my leather jacket, a very small one on my left palm near the wrist. But my left buttock hurts, most certainly I have a large bruise.
And my left arm, from wrist to elbow hurts like hell whenever I move my fingers or rotate the hand.
No broken bones, I think, but all my ligaments and tendons are messed up.
Just to be on the safe side, I'll have some x-rays tomorrow.

Why a lad curse? Did one of your lads go to the naija shrine and offer a bottle of liquor? Very Happy

On the plus side, you didn't feel much when it happend and you can still type with one hand and therefore bait lads. Now is a good time to ask your lads which one went to a shrine.

Well, I wasn't that much under the influence to not feel it. I think it was more due to wet grass than the ingested alcohol.

I hope your X-ray will show nothing broken or torn.

If it's just bruised and strained muscles, the advice I've been given is to continue moving the affected part normally. When you don't move it (because it hurts to move it), things seize up, and movement becomes more difficult and more painful.

Sounds like something I did a couple of years ago - lost my balance crossing a road and fell hard; took the impact on my outstretched left arm. When the doctor heard what had happened, and how painful it was, he made me wear a sling for a week until the injury stopped hurting so much - sort of the reverse of the advice Kabuto Sama received.

For the moment I used what I had around the house. Wrapped around the wrist a handkerchief soaked in cold water.
And rubbed it with Diclofenac, which is good for tendon and ligament injuries.

No matter what, it's the lads fault!

Yesterday I tried to jump a fence and look cool at the same time. Didn't work. My foot got caught and I fell on my side. My shirt was ripped and I broke a thong (flip-flop) To top it off the ground was muddy. It was awesome! Mad

Kabuto, I shall email a random lad and blame him for our misfortune.

Footwear wasn't to blame. It was a lads fault my fence was too high and I wasn't co-ordinated enough to clear it properly.

Does it make the story anymore strange if I tell you I was chasing a chicken at the time of the leap?

Hmm - I've broken a toe crossing a room, wrenched a shoulder crossing the road, dislocated two fingers crossing a bridge, and cracked a rib LARPing.

Just as well I never did anything truly hazardous!

I shall have a very interesting bruise. 10 cm long, 3 wide, on the inside of the arm near the thumb. And a smaller one on the back.
So diagnosis is clear; Stretched ligaments in the wrist. Stretched tendons all over the forearm.
Prolly I'll cancel my plans for New Year party and stay home.
Progress is good so far; swelling reduced, does not hurt as much as yesterday.

I had my share of accidents involving ligaments and tendons. No broken bones so far (at least not that I know of). But enough weeks of pain involving feet, toes, kneecaps and wrists.
Well, this time so far so good. After just 3 days recovery is better than expected. I'll have some huge bruises, but pain has gone down to acceptable levels.
I might be plain stupid or stubborn masochist, but last 6 hours I used my hand without regard for the pain.

I am pleased to announce that my injury is healing well. 100% hand mobility, occasional pain and cracking sounds; no worries, even my right (uninjured wrist) sounds like that sometimes. It seems the overstretched forearm tendons are slower to heal than the wrist ligaments.

I still have pain in my left arm from the shingles, which I find very, very annoying

When it comes to drinking, it does not matter. I can raise me beer with either hand.

It's when I reach for things and naturally put my left hand out, it hurts Crying or Very sad

And I tend to sleep curled up on my left side, so I wake up with the ache in my arm Crying or Very sad

I think your pain is from the affected nerves, no phyisical damage.
I am not an M. D., but I have good knowledge in this field.
I am good at self-diagnosis up to a point, where I ask the opinion of my GP.
This time I did not bother her, because I knew the extent of my injury. Took no X-rays.
The healing rate supports my diagnosis. If I had any broken/fissured bones in my wrist/forearm the pain would have been greater and healing rate slower.

Agree that shingles would have caused nerve damage. Can sympathize re the pain as I have peripheral neuropathy in both feet due to being undiagnosed as a type 2 diabetic for too long. The diabetes is under control but the peripheral neuropathy I'm still struggling to get under control Sad
