Explanation for k7.net phone numbers

I have a k7.net phone number. One of my baits has been calling it and leaving messages over the past several days. k7.net forwards these messages to one of my email addys. The email shows the phone number that called. There have been several different US area codes but the messages all claim to be (and sound like) the same guy. Is this guy using several different phones (with accounts set up in different states) or is there some other explanation?

He could be using a skype type thing or something. That would explain the different numbers.

Other than that I have no idea.

Several of the calls have come from the same area code as the bank account details he gave me today. I doubt if he is using a land line (no hits on a reverse lookup) but one of them, according to the reverse lookup, came from an "unpublished cell phone".

If you get a Google Voice account, I think you can call within the US for free (Anyone? Refute this if it's wrong). So you could call the numbers to see where that leads you.

Either way, Google Voice is a baiter's best friend.

Thanks, scissorkick, I will check out Google Voice. So far, the lad seems satisfied with my excuses for never being available to answer his calls. I might need to talk to them some day because the guy is offering to fly to my city with my (non-existent) "money". Since I haven't yet paid him the $14K he thinks I am going to wire to his account (and I'm SURE there will be problems completing this transfer Twisted Evil

), I just might be able to wrangle a safari out of him so I can give him the money personally. Anybody else accomplished a safari on US soil?

BTW, one of the odd aspects of this bait has been it started with a lad in Nigeria but has now largely been handed over to this US-based guy who is posing as a traveling diplomat. Has anybody else encountered African-based scammers supervised by US bosses?

Occasionally US lads will pop up. I seem to remember a US lad's number being passed around so that people could order pizza from them a while back. I haven't heard of a Safari on US soil, but I can think of a few places I'd like to send one.
Maybe Compton, CA... Dressed all in red or blue, so you can recognize him?

I was thinking perhaps Seattle because that is the area code of my k7.net account. Besides, if this guy is in Atlanta, GA (which is where his bank account and some of his phone numbers are located), Seattle is a nice, long trip for him! Although, south-central LA is lovely this time of year...

I have seen a number of lads over the years call my K7 or Skype number and the caller ID shows a 206 Seattle area code. I know they are in the 234 Nigeria area code. Somehow the calls from overseas are shuttled through the 206 area code. Can't tell you why or how it works.

I have one other question related to this bait. Perhaps one of the mods or somebody with more knowledge in this area can enlighten me. The bank account data the lad sent me included the name and address of the account holder. The name on the account is a company registered with the Georgia Division of Corporations. I looked them up on their web site and the address provided to me by the scammer is consistent with the one registered with the State of Georgia.

I reported this bank account to Alan. Besides trying to get the bank to close down an account involved in fraud, does he pass information along to the state authorities to try to locate, arrest, and prosecute the individuals running these companies engaged in criminal activity?
