I put a jewelry on Craigslist for sale and got 2 scammers to answer me and no real buyer yet -boo!.
Each one of them told me they have family overseas they need it sent to and they'll pay more than the asking price blah blah blah.

So I exacted my revenge a little differently for those two. I know africans are supersticious and believe in magic SO I pretended to be an african american voodoo priestess LOL sending an anonymous email from note2email.com. I also checked my IP using that website and it comes out as 10.XXX like the scammer!

They also both pretended to be american women SO to put more credibility in my threat of a curse I assumed they're men (and I think 99% of them are)

So here's the text:

Allow me to present myself. I am Shonda. As an african american voodoo priestess and a potential victim of your scam online I have decided to take on revenge upon myself. I asked the Loa spirit to identify you, young greedy man. I am very powerful and strong in my community and I don't have to be in your physical presence to curse you. I have put a curse on the negative energy you represent to save other innocent beings from becoming victims of your greediness and lack of love for humanity.

Take a look around you. You see beggars everyday where you are. You will lose all the money you want plus thirteen times the amount unless you decide to apologize to all the victims you have swindled money from. The Loa is watching you for me. Should you not do what I told you, a very bad event will come to you or your entourage in less than 30 days.

I leave it to you to look into your heart and pray hard and loud for the saving of your soul. Your energy is bad.

There is no need to answer me as I am unreachable. Good luck with your recovery. I hope for you that you will be changing your selfish ways or something very awful will happen to you.

If the guy's supersticious and I assume they all are (my family and I lived in west africa for a while when I was a kid and YES a LOT of them believe in magic) then the guy is probably sweating balls as we speak or even looking for the local shaman and pay him for protection. :b What do you think? A person who can put a curse on those idiots seems like the perfect persona to have haha

Any knowledge and specifics you have on curses will be helpful. Let's hope your lad appreciates your magic.

Thank you Bolleboos! I'm quite enraged about those scammers but I took the time to inform myself on how to hide.

This is what I did:

I know they contact a lot of people at once, at least the one I talked to. So they don't remember who's answering to what ad because mine asked me to send him pics of the item while the ad was still on Craigslist with pics. DUH

SO I replied using my regular email. A simple reply saying I don't want to do it. Then I sent the voodoo email from an anonymous email website. Checked it with my email first to make sure my IP doesn't show up.

I would love a mentor but I hear there are a lot of people asking for one. I am an army wife so I have a lot of free time on my hands and I'd love to do some real scam baiting.

My husband almost got scammed by a fake payloan guy from India. That's a whole other story. He got the secret services involved but they couldn't do anything. He did tell the guys he got JAG involved, the army law firm. That got the guy crying on the phone saying his wife's got cancer and he's poor.

I want to add that I have an address or mailbox in Benin (country adjacent to Nigeria) where I was supposed to send my piece of jewelry. What should I do with that?

Since they haven't sent money to you, don't send the jewelry.

I've noticed that the addresses my lads send me tend to not even exist. Ikoyi doesn't appear to even have a Queens Drive, for example. So reporting it would be pretty useless.

@mugublast WELCOME. Dont be scared to ask for a mentor its true many ask for a mentor but if you visit the site regulary and get involved you have way more chance to get a mentor.Many of the people who aply are people who visit the site 1 or 2 time and never been seen again so you get a mentor within a week or 10 days if you participate in the forums and while you waiting you can alredy learn alot just by reading some stuff...info enough...and if you have any questions there always lots of people here to help you......no question to stupid you will get the answer you need.

Welcome to Eater.

Generally with these scams, the scammer is not expecting to receive the goods. He makes money by over-paying you with a fake cheque and having you send the excess money back to him. It would be more dangerous for him to give you a valid address.

On the other hand it may be real, but there is not much we can do about it. We can't send an angry lad there, it's illegal to send noxious substances there (and it might belong to an innocent third party), and you wont gather enough evidence to get it shut down if it is a PO box.

By all means apply for a mentor. They take a few days to be allocated because many people who request them don't stick around for long. In the meantime read the stickies and the university, get yourself a safe baiting email account and get stuck in. You can find all the scammers you will need in the Surplus forum.
