I don't use Fastmail, but there are similar scams running right now from Amazon and a couple Banks (or more accurately -from scammers pretending to be from those sites.)

I use fastmail, could expect such an email in my catcher. I did have a phishing attempt on my crawler account some weeks ago.

I run my own mailserver on my own domain and I get them there too. They just extract the word to the right of the @ and insert it in a template email. If your email was [email protected], you'd have been told that elephantdoodoo was upgrading their servers. It looks targeted but it isn't.

I often get many of these a day in my Hotmail catcher (phishing script tweaked for hotmail, of course).

If a victim falls for this, the scammer usually logs into the account, changes the password, then emails everyone in the contact list pretending to be the account owner stranded in a foreign land and needing cash quick through WU.

Coincidentally, when I logged into Hotmail today, the opening screen featured an MSN article about just this type of scam:
