Not necessarily lazy. He's already stolen the ID card (or "borrowed" it, if you will). At any rate, the "victim" already has a pic of him from the ID card. He can't find anything on the net that resembles the ID pic enough to pass as him. |

Just got another call from Remittanceboi, Ger@|d J0nes
Only about 3'30" but always nice to talk to him.
I think I cost him more than only these 4 minutes. He tried to flash me a couple of times (or at least someone did) but that doesn't work. He gets billed for the ringing indication tone I play for him.
In total I got 8 hits on my lad line within 20 minutes. 3x +1-404-, 1x +1-678-, 3x unknown or restricted, and 1x +234-! The US based numbers are probably forwarding services or voip services. The one that resulted in a conversation was 'restricted'. The +234-803blabla might be his own. According to the nigerian national numbering plan, its a gsm cell phone from MTN.
So since the bank transfer has now taken a week and didn't come through, we don't think this is going to work anymore, and we'll try a mannigram. I have no idea how that works. I have to cancel the bank transfer first, or I dont have enough balance to send the mannigram. Interesting point: I need to provide the transfer details by phone, not email, because email is not secure.
I will wait for him to give me the information on how to send the mannigram. |

This is a really interesting massbait, and indeed it's worth wondering exactly what this lad is up to. Judging from what I've seen on this thread, it looks like he probably hasn't come across the thread itself, but does seem like he's one of those lads who is very impatient, really money-focused, and has enough potential victims on the hook that he can afford to disregard the less promising cases. Let's hope that all those potential victims are baiters!
This specific soldier format has been around for a long time (google "risk we have taken with our lives in this hell hole" for zillions of hits) and I wouldn't be surprised if this particular lad is rather experienced at running it - the massbait must have raised his suspicions, although not completely as he still seems to be taking seriously a couple of respondents.

I just got the female soldier ID card and 3 opening script emails. I've actually been in the areas that she has mentioned in Iraq (I was over there for 2 tours). It's sad how inaccurate these lads are.
Unfortunately, victims would never know the difference. I'm going to work at some de-education here as best as I can to make it glaringly apparent to any one in US/UK that this is a scam. |

I've been batting him around for awhile trying to figure out how to successfully get him the money he apparently needs so badly. Unfortunately the account he gave, which did go up to the man, doesn't seem to want to accept the transfer.
He has continually told me that I need to change my password and scan my computer for viruses. He's certain that someone is interfering with this transaction. I can't imagine where he'd get that idea.... |
