Block his email and he'll go away. Any scam email you get in that account you delete.
If you wish to bait, you'll need to create fake details about an imaginary person and start fresh. |
Are you saying by using my real detail with this scammer I might be in real danger?
Oh my! In that case I will just to make it I had suddenly vanished without a trace to this scammer so I can start fresh. Thanks, NN. if you have the time I like to request you to become my mentor. I will need help and access to resources to set up new traps and baits for these scammers. Justice is what I like to serve them. However if that is not possible I will settle for the next best thing. As Garak from DS9 once said, "They might want to break my body but the insults I gave them will lasts a lifetime."
Happy baiting! |

You can go here for a mentorship request. Give it a few days (or weeks) and someone WILL get with you. Just be patient.
I second to what everyone has said earlier - do not under any circumstances bait from your real email addy. Since you're already planning your character, pick up a gmail address that would have something to do with what your character is into and bait from there.
Utilize the .dll file modality for passports/ photos.
And don't burn the lad! Have fun, waste his time, and take it slow - I'd start with a straight bait to learn the ropes. |

Not as such. We like to err on the side of safety. Depending on where your scammer lives in relation to you. A scammer is all about the money. If you are not paying then he is wasting valuable scam time, and will give up quickly. If you disappear they will as well.
We only take these precautions because baiters do serious damage to their cash flow. We've also caused some major internet humiliation. Some scammer may decide to track a baiter down, but seeing as all the information we provide is fake, there is no-way they could find us.
By their nature a scammer is a coward. He attacks and steals through a computer. As I said. Drop him, block him and he'll go away. If he has your number and he calls, say you are not interested and hang up. No need for you to watch over your shoulder. The scammer will move on to his next victim.
In regards to mentoring. I would but timezones will be a problem for real time concerns, and I'm a hard task-master. I'd break you in a week. |

A tough task master, eh, NN? I would love to put this to the test because I had been told I could be as stubborn as the best of them. Or so it might seem so according to my parents. NTL I am going to give my scammer the silent treatment for a long time to come. At least in this case his undivided attention will be focus on me instead of a new victim. One way or another justice will be serve to this suspect and he will get the full course right down to his last bite. |

Ignoring him won't make him forget his other victims - he'll have several (many?) on the hook in parallel.
However, ignoring him is a useful tactic in a battle of wills - eg, if you've told him something isn't possible and he refuses to see things your way.
It's like a negotiation - you're trying to gain an advantage over your opponent by attacking his psyche |

Normally yes, after all what have you reported?
Someone, somewhere in the world has sent me a message trying to trick me out of money.
It might come as a bit of a shock to you, but the person with whom you are dealing might not have been totally honest when they signed up for their e-mail account. Unless you can get 100% risky free guaranteed details of the real identity and location of the scammer you are not going to get very far with the LEO's.
However, it is always worth trying, there are other ways of turning the tables on scammers if law enforcement agencies are not interested. |

I'm sure several would be happy to help torment and waste even more of his time.
And/or as others have said, set up an acc't. like gmail which strips your IP, and start baiting him again. He'll never know it's you. They send out hundreds and don't keep track of addresses they've mailed to |

I would think of it being more like a game of chess with moves and counter moves. The prize is my king - my money. The queen and her supporters are my tactics in distractions and misdirections. I think I will keep him on the bait line by introducing my fictional sister who is a chartered accountant and let her take over. In this way I can cover my tracks and keep my confidential information safe. I want to see this scammer wiggle in misery. I have a devious plan that will take him on a double talking, really long trip to nowhere. I would love to toss him to the wolves when he response again. For now it's a waiting game. The next move is his. Stay tune. |

First off, Welcome to Eater!
Secondly, just in case you haven't read the sticky on straight baiting, I feel that I should warn you... if you try to do too much to this lad too soon or all at once, all it will get you is dropped. Before you can get them to travel to antarctica to take a picture of themselves with a loaf of bread on their heads you have to spend time building their trust. If they truely believe you're a willing victim that wants to help them, they'll do what you ask. If you look like too much work too soon, they'll never talk to you again.
Have fun and bait safe! |

@CaseyKo - This will not protect your identity. It is the same bait. Listen to the Mods and others here. Drop this lad completely, absolutely. Go pick another lad to harass with safe fake details. But first, do some reading. Lots of it. |

I had seriously given this scenario a great deal of thought and frankly, you are all correct. To prevent any further infiltration into my personal files and to prevent this scammer from using resources against me or anyone close to me, I'd now cut him off suddenly and completely but I am not done with him. I have acquired his email addresses and in the process of tracking down his IPs. Once that is done I will pass the information to my Internet connections and alert them to this scammer. I am an electronic engineer and a computer specialist. I know I can create various weapons and tools to use against these thieves. I am also in the middle of the process changing and updating my security protocols to the various websites and message boards I'd been visiting on a regular basis. It seems my current security precautions are not enough. I must do better. It will take sometime to complete my updates. Then and only then will I start setting up new baits and traps to use against them. One way or another justice will be serve and she will not be blind any longer.

If you are talking about viruses, trojans or other similar nasties, that is not condoned here.
1) Illegal
2) The lads use internet cafes so anything designed to harm the lads would only harm the owner of the cafe and others who use the cafes for legitimate reasons.
3) See #1 again |

^^^^^ Indeed.
The primary mission here is not to inflict damage / harm onto Innocent Third Parties. You should endeavour to always work towards not involving anyone but your character, the scammer, and (if you're lucky) some law enforcement officials in his home country.
The name of the game for scam baiting is to waste the scammer's time and for you to have a blast at getting them to effectively lose their minds. There are other scambaiting sites out there that condone such actions as you are mentioning, but this site has some pretty strict guidelines to adhere to. I recommend reading up on Shiver's postings in the forums (you'll find the stickies at the tops of the lists) that prescribe exactly how this community deals with these criminals.
If you're looking to really put some hurt on them, bait them into giving you some bank acct information. Close a few of their accounts, and you'll hurt them where they feel it most - their pockets.
Remember, 90% of these lads are not operating out of their homes (perhaps more), but rather in cyber cafes (which is why you will see their IP addresses change frequently in the headers), which are legitemate businesses that innocent people own and operate.
If you really want to exact some revenge on these lads, then I suggest you straight-bait one for a while to establish some credibility with them and then introduce a nice dolla chop or two and watch the steam pour out of their ears.
Just remember, Bait Safe and please don't bring any ITP's into your bait! |

No need to lock the thread, no rules have been broken.
Casey can continue to ask questions, get advice and even ignore that advice if he'd like. He'll learn by doing. By all means Casey, go about things your own way, you'll learn in the process. The advice you have been given here is by experienced baiters. Members keep urging you to read here to save you some time in the learning curve. If you don't want to, that's fine. You'll learn by experience.
Please do read the forum rules, however, at a minimum. You are expected to know those to participate here. |

Casey.
If you'd like to screw with scammers whilst not hiding your personal details, go ahead.
I personally know of some big gangs of lads who operate near you. Although the chances are slim that you've got one of their many thousands of contacts on the line, you never know.
As for reporting to the authorities and "serving justice"? Go ahead again. You'll find that the police will be very attentive. Then, when you leave, they'll throw the report straight into the trash.
I've already given you advice and that advice is to read. Ima says to let you go ahead and do your own thing but if you take it that way, please don't post about it here. We simply don't care. You either want advice or you don't. But if all you want is a sounding board to advertise your own cleverness then you should be aware that we've seen it all before and those that act without learning or listening, normally don't last long in the world of scam-baiting. |

It's a psychological game casey. The people here who bait scammers do so because they're honest people who hate cheats and thieves. That makes it easy for them to spin a good yarn when dealing with the scammers. You sound intelligent enough to get into mind games, so learn how to do it safely and get stuck in. You'll find it much more rewarding than sending them malware. |

I admit I had studied psychology with great amount of atteniton and time. I am fascinated by the human psyche and what some people will do, even to extremes, to earn a buck. I am not a thief and I do know when to draw the line and getting involve in illegal activities. I am a scientist at heart and I am seeing this scheme as a little more than a real life experiment applied in real time.
Just a quick update regarding my scammer. He seems to be on the verge of panic now that I had announced I will be reporting his messages and actions to law enforcement officials. He claim he had already have someone else in line to claim the "inheritance" from me. It will be really terrific if his new target turn out to be a real law enforcement official. Only then will I have the last word and last laugh in this matter.
One way or another justice will be serve to this scammer. Stay tune. |

Have you, by any chance, ever been the victim of one of these scams? Recently, maybe? Just curious....
For anyone who has, scamwarners.com is a good place for advice. |
