Out for a year, I think. Not that I was doing anything special, just some straight/casual baiting. Three or so trophies I think.

I was doing romance baiting for all the wrong reasons. The inncoents who lost money and lives no longer mattered, and all that did was a cheap thrill .jpg sent to me by some russian scumbag.

You can probably guess, I was found out. It's hard to justify the innocents on the shit-end of the sitck, when your better half discovers your correspondence when you accidentally leave your gmail open. Insert obligatory 'yes, dears' and time spent on couch during noctournal hours, here.

So I think enought time has passed, no, not to do the same thing, but to start over.

Where do I begin anew?

You need to see Dr. Phil, or eater's equivalent... Me.

I've always been completely open about baiting with my better half, so I've never had to explain anything. Now when she sees me photochopping some lad having a threesome with barnyard animals I don't even get a raised eyebrow.

Grab a lad and jump right in. It's like riding a bike, or a horse. Whichever is more comfortable.

Ouch! It sounds like you explained the various modalities of scam baiting to your "better half", but s/he didn't buy it?

I guess the obvious advice is to keep away from romance lad baiting?

I personally tend to bait dying widows and orphans, or scammers with giant trunk boxes full of cash whatever the circumstances, and it's a laugh a minute. Laughing

I've never been tempted to do a romance scam, myself. My own "better half" enjoys daily updates about my more interesting baits, and she's been known to provide a female voice on occasion on my bait-o-phone. Wink

Explain scambaiting to your better half, and get them involved. It can be a very fun team sport.

My wife disapproves of baiting, calls, well everything really. Especially talking to NN. She sees the avatar, and runs when I say it's a man. But she can't stop me. So she doesn't.

I'm not sure there are any wrong reasons. Anything that diverts scammers from real victims is worth doing. Trophies, publishing amusing baits, etc, are just added extras.
Ask for a mentor if you think you need one, pick a lad from "Surplus Letters" and start baiting.

I have sorta given up trying to get it through to my wife. I don't get it. She would love to see Iran turned into a sheet of glass, but making some African criminal make an ass of himself seems... 'mean'.

My husband thought scam baiting was "mean" until someone we knew was taken in by a lad. Shocked

For my date/baits, I usually bait as a man (I'm a woman) and my husband has even seen the "character's" website. So he's cool. For other baits, I usually use the same character or someone ridiculous (ie my Star Wars baits), so there is never any chance of an appearance that I'm corresponding with someone sexually "for real".

Maybe if you bait using a female character or someone from the movies (a character from Office Space or something --I have a Lumburg Innitech employee ID jpg you could use), she might be less threatened. Also, show her some stories about what scammers have done to their victims. And, I'm sure you probably also told her that these "poor" folks do more harm than good to their cities because their scamming discourages real companies/employers from investing. You can bet your average lad is not sharing his winnings with the town.
