I already encountered this type of scam also, with other diseases like elephantiasis.
It's made to touch your good heart.

I've removed the images in your post as they depict innocent third parties with medical conditions.
Lads are known to plagiarise content from any online source if they believe it will help draw someone into the scam.

I did see the pics before they got snipped (and I don't oppose that decision in the least).

Personally I hate when lads do these kinds of things. A pastor-cum-hitlad of mine sent me photographs of dead children (I presume from the tsunami that hit South Asia a few years back) in order to prove to me how dangerous he was. They were, according to him, his past victims.

Suffice it to say, I was most displeased with him. Desecrating the fallen like that. Evil or Very Mad
