Technology is mushroomed - Translation?

It's about this lad. He still hasn't sent me a better picture, but I"m working on that...

Wiktionary told me that 'mushroomed' is the 'Simple past tense and past participle of mushroom.' 'To mushroom' is supposed to mean either 'growing really fast' or 'gathering mushrooms'. Those don't really seam fitting here.
Anybody any idea which word he screwed up to get to 'mushroomed'?

My guess would be that he is using it to say the technology is rotten over there, like how mushrooms grow off of rotten things. Granted it's totally not the correct use of the term, but that's the only explanation I can think of.

When he explain, simply write:
"Aaaah, you mean it is the same as legtoortinized".... (sit on keyboard for special effect, then add suffixes to make the word similar). Then argue semantics with lad for a week or two Laughing

^ That's an idea, I'll do that. I'd like something new to spend a week or two chatting about. The past week was about when his photographer would return so he could submit a new banner. Supposedly the photographer is 'out of the province' and the lad doesn't know when he'll return. Sure thing.

This brings to mind a famous headline - DRIVE TO BAN HORSE WHIPPING MUSHROOMS.
After shaking off images of legal action against horse-hating fungi with whips, I realised that it meant that an attempt to ban the whipping of horses was gathering support.
But the original image was funnier.
