Hi...

I am new here...

....But you guys just rock!!!!

I have been sick in bed for the last week (bad cold, or mild swine-flu thing) and have had the pleasure of reading a whole bunch of your adventures in the world of scamming...

INCREDIBLE!!!!!

I have in the past recieved hundreds, if not thousands of offers from a whole bunch of people.... Not just one proposition from one person, but the same proposition from dozens of different persons.... (Never replied, just deleted... I may not have a college degree, but I am not stupid!!!)

What I don't get....

-- Are they so stupid that they don't check the facts that are sent to them???
(Stark Trek references, obscure sexual references, stupid italian names,....)
Why don't they just Google the info.... I do!!!! I even Goggle myself just for
the hell of it.... Come and find me.... Smile

--They have a tendensy to write in capital letters.... WHY!!!! I FIND THAT VERY
RUDE!!!!! I HAVE THE FEELING THEY ARE SHOUTTING!!!! STOP
SHOUTING!!!! AND IT IS VERY HARD TO READ WHAT THEY
ARE WRITING!!!!! Evil or Very Mad

--Scammers (or partners) are lured to a rendez-vous at an airport/hotel....
Some of you take so much effort in getting them there.... Why not include
the police in the meeting??? I mean they wan't money... They want to screw
someone.... Why not do a STING? (like in the movie?)

Ok.... Like I said I am new here....

AND I WILL BE BACK!!!!!

Take care and keep smilling....

Pepper

PS. I speak Englisch, German, Swiss-German, French, and Italien.... (at least my Italian is better that that of the late Pizza Pepperoni.... Ciao Bello... Sei i piu grande cazzo che io visto da mio vita!!! Bacci alla tua famiglia....)

The lads are not stupid, they are just not steeped in Western culture like we are. In fact some of the names they use are just as funny as ours, but we don't have the language or the culture to recognise them. One lad I baited went under the name of Miriam Agyeman; did he chose it because it almost says A Guy Man?

I received a real letter from a real lawyer a year or two ago. It asked for a copy of my passport, and it was written in ALL CAPITALS. Truth is sometimes stranger than fiction.

Welcome!

I think they write in capitals because they have keyboards in the cafes that do capitals or another script altogether. As for the names, they mean nothing to the lads, but in turn, I had a Barrister lad, who, Google told me, was the name of the Nigerian entry in X Factor USA, so it works both ways.

Don't underestimate the scammers, some are as dumb as a box of rocks, others are very smart cookies indeed ( and therefore much harder to bait).

It's easy to see how a magic trick works when you know the secret, but much harder when you don't. We often see people throw scorn and ridicule at victims, which isn't helpful. I have seen examples of college professors, students, financial advisors and even a UK Lord Mayor fall for 419 scams so it has nothing to do with intelligence. Often some people are just trusting.

In baiting we use similar tactics as the scammers though not, of course, to the same end, and the things we can get scammers to do just shows how you can manipulate someone's mind.

The most vulnerable people are those who are elderly, disabled, poor, in financial hardship or lonely. Having said that we have ill, elderly and disabled baiters here, and none of things make you stupid, but it can make you vulnerable.

Even the dumb scammers can be dangerous because they will usually follow tried and tested scripts and tactics which they pass around. The ones who have been around a bit, know the West better and have international connections and can be highly sophisticated with documents and websites to back up their scams.

You can achieve a lot as a beginner - you can do scammers a lot of harm with experience - you'd be surprised what you can when you become totally evil. Very Happy

Scammers in general are just too lazy to google anything. There are however some lads who do take the time to google and some end up here. Some even sign in to eater but they won't last very long here. Twisted Evil
But don't underestimate the intelligence of scammers. While you're having some time to browse the internet you could visit http://www.scamwarners.com/ and find out how much scammers earn with scamming. Even the most dumb, ignorant, lazy scammer can steal thousands of dollars from a victim if he gets a lucky streak.

But why doesn't the law get involved?
Why not set a trap?

I am ready to screw them....
Have them run around in circles...
Send me useless pictures....
Have them wait for me at the airport...
...After they booked and paid my hotel room....

BUT I WANT IT TO STOP!!!! (sorry... I will try not to shout again....)

What can be done to stop it..... ????

I mean you/we are the GOOD GUYS?

Take care....

  1. Nothing the lads do to us is illegal, because we are not going to send them money.
  2. Lads lie by reflex, even when they do not need to. The real victims have no evidence against them.
  3. All their victims are in a different jurisdiction.
  4. Most of the victims do not report the crime.
  5. Almost no victims would be willing to fly to Africa to give evidence.
  6. There is enough corruption in the police that the lads can and do bribe themselves out of trouble.

So to get a conviction, you have to find a lad in a country that will prosecute him and not just take a bribe not to. Then you have to find a victim that is willing to testify. Then you have to gather evidence of the lad's real identity and tie it to his scamming persona. Then you have to take the evidence to the police and find someone willing to look at it long enough to realise that it is solid, and give them victims who have lost enough that it is worth their while investigating. All that will of course mean that you have to break anonymity, and trust that no idiotic policeman or lawyer discloses your identity to the scammer.

A conviction is the highest accolade a baiter can get. You can see the ones who have managed it here; they have golden shields in their signatures. They are very rare.

(Edited to add stuff while Titania was posting, sorry Titania Wink )

Pepper, unfortunately it is very difficult to get a lad arrested. If you look very hard you might see a very few members here who have badges (police-type) in their signatures. They have managed to get a lad arrested, but not always for scamming.

The problem is that the scammer and the victims are usually in different countries, and jurisdiction is a roadblock. Also the scammers use fake names, stolen identification, and lie through their teeth. They are well-nigh impossible to pin down.

Say you get a scammer to go to an airport to meet you - a person he thinks is a "maga" (rich fool). What would you tell the police? "This man, who says his name is Charles Soludo, thinks he's going to steal money from me." In most countries, the INTENTION of robbing a person is not enough to prosecute, unless some injury is done to the victim in the process of the attempted robbery. And we wouldn't want any baiter to go so far as to get him/herself injured in the pursuit of an arrest.

Besides, in their own country, the lads are for the most part immune to prosecution. That's mainly due to bribes and corruption in the government and police agencies in those countries. And should you get a lad to come to your own country (or find one of his associates in your country), and you can prove that he has actually stolen money from someone (not easy when he is hiding under layers of fakeness), it's possible he will merely be deported back to his own country, where he will resume scamming with impunity.

The best weapons we have in the fight against internet crime are education and guile. At scamwarners.com, the focus is on educating and warning internet users about what's out there. At 419eater.com, we waste the time and resources of the scammers so they're not spending them on real victims. We also get their websites taken down. It's the best we know how to do.

Now, if you managed to read through all that, welcome to the team! Very Happy

I don't Google things I am believing in. I don't know which country you come from, but if it is a different one to me, and I tell you that I shop at Tesco's, have bought Hammy Hamster Food, used to own a Raleigh Twenty bike, which, by the way, I used to love riding at Bull's Moon, especially after a good snack of pikelets, and, by the way, I go by the name of 'Branwen' which means 'She who takes the world by storm' - how many of those things are you going to Google? Or how many things are you going to whizz or 'bleep' past, on the way to my fascinating tale of the thing that you are really interested in - assuming that I am going to tell you all about that later in my mail. And which, in the Lads' case is going to be The Money, or before that, The Compliance. And in my baiting mails, those interesting subjects are there too, and they, I assume, makes it easy to ignore the rest.

I don't Google things I'm taking on trust. All the above things things about me are true - except one.

One of the true things is hard to find via Google. Even if I was a Googler, I'd probably give up by that point.

There are things I would never in my life fall for. And things I absolutely would - and one scam I have fallen for. My IQ is so high it is almost embarrassing (and often unbelievable, seeing I can talk the greatest drivel as well), and I am revoltingly rational and logical and so full of common sense that I'm quite a bore. But there's a type of scam to match every personality type. Including mine. And probably including yours.

Good. Jump aboard. Do something. Play the small part in changing the world. Learn from others. And start small. Aim, at first, for just keeping them occupied for one month. Get a bank account from them. All the spectacular stuff is for later. One year here, and I'm still just taking up their time. Little more than that. But it all counts. And I'm still proud to play my part.

Club74 (aka Pepper), the lads don't Google things they receive because they are looking for signs of a willing victim. All they want is easy money. They are not looking for education, just money. The education they might get from Googling is used for further scamming.

Pull up a chair, read around as recommended above and grab a lad to waste his time to keep him from getting to a real victim. Welcome to the world of fantasy as it collides with reality. Very Happy
