You're welcome. Reading through all that again sure brought back a whole lot of memories. Once the lads appeared to have disappeared in Darfur (they still have never been heard from by the way) I thought to myself, "hmm, I wonder if that has ever happened before", and then went to bed. The next morning, I log into Eater and see the MASSIVE ethics thread going full tilt. It got really nasty for a while. I was just surprised that anyone gave a shit. Then once I put Rev. Kuhm Belcher's email address on the safari website, I was even more shocked at the amount of readership that it was getting outside of the forum. While most were highly supportive of the whole bait, there were also a number of people that thought that I, and the rest of the baiters out there, were total savages. Quite the eye opener.

I remember it well (though I had a different name then) and I am as impressed now as I was then. For what it's worth if something bad happens to someone whilst they are attempting to steal money from a geriatric aid worker then they deserve it. At least in my book anyway.

Thanks for getting it back up.

Nice. Good to see it in all it's glory.

It's only let down by YW's terrible spelling and poor grammar.
But as he's thick, it's only to be expected.

Apart from that - superb.

I had the email addies of both the lads that went into Darfur. One thing that I always do when lads are on safari is bait them as a totally separate characters. This is useful for verifying whether or not the lads have twigged. Even as late as 6 months after the safari was over, I could not get a reply from either lad. As for Kuku, he stopped communicating with any of my characters as well.

Gee, that does sound a bit stressful. Poor wee laddie. Laughing

I see no reason for ethics debate. These are ruthless and merciless criminals who deserve whatever punishment can be meted out to them.

Would I go to Chad if I thought I could steal money from someone? Of course not, but they will so tough luck for them.

This really calls for a new ethics thread.

Ethical question of the day: Are lad-huggers an ITP or do they deserve being slapped vigorously and repeatedly? Twisted Evil

I'm a new scambaiter, so I wasn't able to read The Road to Chad/Darfur scambait when it first came out. However, I read it last night. As someone whose read countless scambaits, this one is by far the best.

I can't believe those lads were suckered into traveling to an extremely dangerous warzone, thinking they were going to steal over $100,000 from a religious humanitarian worker, but instead ended up disappearing, never to be heard from again.

The scambaiter of this scam tried to appease opponents, who think he took things too far, by saying the two lads were most likely arrested (though he provides no link to support this idea) and probably weren't killed. However, I can see through what he's saying. (That would be like saying that a person who disappeared while traveling through Taliban-dominated areas of Afghanistan was "probably just arrested, not killed," which is nonsense.)

Judging from the scambait, it's very obvious that the lads were murdered on their way through a very dangerous warzone. Frankly, I feel no sympathy for them. I think it's good that these horrible people, who thought they were going to steal over 100k which was originally to be used for displaced refugees, are dead now and burning in hell.

I laugh in trying to imagine the hell "Koffi Kuku's" brother is giving him for sending his son to his death.

I'll definitely have to read this scambait a second time in the future.

To quote William Wallace from the movie Braveheart:

Ego nunquam pronunciari mendacium! Sed ego sum homo indomitus.
(I never lie. But I am a savage)

Also at the risk of sounding like a brown noser, this was a really well made, intricate and most of all hilarious bait. You managed to keep it funny for us the readers and keep him going. I'm glad it has been preserved to be viewed like a work of art
