For 5 years or so my sister had gone out with a great guy. Everyone thought they were going to wind up married. My sister with a degree in Criminal Justice, and him a degree in nautical engineering. I think that's what he had, he had worked for NASA. While they were together, he developed a case of skin cancer. He went through many treatments with my sister by his side. He goes ino remission, and then they break up about a year after he went into remission.

2009, (Here is the link to his blog, as I don't know the technical parts of it : http://dudeflops.blogspot.com/) he was told he had stage IV melonoma. The blog details it far more than I could possibly. After months of battling, and having the cancer spread to his lungs and brain, he passed away last night. The screwed up part was his birthday was on Monday, where he just turned 23, and went into the hospital the next day.

This kid was such a great, loving, kind person, and even though I know his suffering is over and the pain has left him, I am deeply saddened by his loss. I was always hoping they would get back together, and I think my sister is feeling the same way as I type this.

We all truly loved him, he was the type to always put a smile on your face, as he was goofy, but goofy in a good, kind way. I could never explain how this kid, made everyone feel, and the great times that were had with him.

So as we go through the viewing on Tuesday and the funeral on Thursday, I only ask to keep my family in your thoughts, and pray for his family to get through this, and help keep the thought of Ian alive, and help his family heal, and never forgot him.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Stephanie. It's a huge tragedy to lose someone so young.

Cancer is a horrible disease, in whatever form it takes. Evil or Very Mad

Stephanie, my thoughts and prayers are with you, your family, and all Ian's friends and family. I, too, recently lost a friend of many years to cancer.

I encourage everyone to donate whatever they feel appropriate to cancer-fighting organizations such as the American Cancer Society (or the equivalent in your part of the world).

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. The viewing was last night and the funeral is tomorrow morning. It was harder on my sister and his parents than anybody last night, as tomorrow is going to be the worst. He did not look the same as we had all remembered him, as his hair was gone and he was thinner than he used to be. I want to thank you all again for keeping our family in your thoughts and prayers, especialy tomorrow. He did work for NASA and they held a 5 minute moment of silence for him at Goddard Center which was very nice of them.

Yeah, it is shit but he is no longer in pain.....That's the only good thing about it.
