A few years back I when through a metal detector and set it off. They said it was my belt buckle, so off it when. When through again and it did not go off. Later I remembered that I had a case butter bean in my pocket. It did not set the detector off. The knife had 2 x the metal that my belt buckle had.

Welcome back !

Despite the screw in my skull for my BAHA hearing aid, I've never had any kind of problem at airports (but I live in Europe, and even traveling in Greece wasn't an issue).
I hope I won't have the same problems as you had though !
