Just got this today and got a giggle so I thought I would share...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am Dr. Marc Schneider and I work for Multilingual Search Engine Optimization Inc. in Washington DC ( Tel: 1 202-250-3645) - I would like to speak with the person in charge of your international clientele. Who is my contact? Who should I speak to??

In fact, after visiting http://www.419eater.com , I have noticed that your website cannot be found on foreign search engines (I tested it on Hispanic search engines, German search engines, Asian search engines, etc.) Our company is specialized in multilingual search engine promotions in 28 languages . From the Japanese Google to the German Yahoo, from the AOL in Spanish to the MSN in Chinese, we can show you how to develop a true international online presence by promoting your website on foreign search engines.

Let us show you how to develop a presence on the multilingual web without having to translate your website: It is not necessary to translate your website in order to submit to foreign search engines, however, you need to have at least 1 page in Japanese optimized with Japanese keywords and meta tags in order to submit to Japanese search engines, at least 1 page in Spanish optimized with Spanish keywords in order to submit to Hispanic search engines and so on...

I strongly suggest that you watch our online presentation which will explains clearly how to get top rankings on foreign search engines with only 1 entry page per language (click on the following link or copy-paste it into your web browser): http://www.mplw.net/demo

From the Japanese Google to the German Yahoo, from the AOL in Spanish to the MSN in Chinese, get users to find your website when searching with YOUR KEYWORDS in their Native language.

Please call me at +1 (202) 250-3645 or email me and let's work on giving your website the true international exposure which it deserves to have with foreign native online users!!

Regards,

Marc Schneider, Ph.D.

'The Hell!? Shocked

Is this guy actually legit? And why is he contacting you with matters that concern Eater? Did this foo' get a PhD just so that he can get obscure sites on foreign search engines? This is just weird. Neutral

I thought this was a joke, but apparently these types of businesses are quite popular.

And, incidentally, 202 is a Washington DC area code.

This is so bizarre. Confused

A Google search for: Multilingual Search Engine Optimization Washington DC
brought up several posts from irritated writers quoting the same or a similar letter (addressed to their organization),
claiming that this person/organization is sending out spam -- not scam --

For example:
http://www.wellho.net/share/marc_schneider_3.html

Quote:
Another spam sample from Multilingual Search Engine Optimization Inc

This page is a sample of an unsolicited bulk email, and is reproduced here to help make others aware of their content / existance. If you have received one of these emails yourself, I advise you to read what I have to say here and here before you reply.

In my personal view, there are far better ways to improve your search engine visibility than to use a service such as this one; again, personally, I never use the services of someone who has introduced himself via unsolicited bulk email.

Back to my observations: Sorry, there are hotlinks to the words "here" and "here" in the original, but they didn't come across when I copied/pasted.

< Edited -- because a postscript which I meant to be funny had the potential to be misunderstood. Sorry! >

I'm not sure how I got that in my inbox.. and sorry.. I just did a clean out of my catcher account... so I don't have the header anymore.. but when I checked it.. all I got was that it came from the US.

I think it was pure accidental because I've never posted anything that would link 419 to my catcher.... I just thought it was quite funny and coincidental that i got that loll

Did you two just advocate crippling the communication capabilities of a legitimate business which you don't like?

I seriously hope you were being facetious.

NickTheCop --
You are correct, that I intended my remark to be facetious, but I see from your post that it could be misunderstood. Embarassed
So I've gone back and edited out the postscript.
Thank you for calling it to my attention.

No, I was advocating a bit of internet "street justice" for a "spammer"... but take it any way you want...
