This is pretty fun and confusing all at the same time.

This one started out as a pretty unremarkable straight bait. Just as I got to the point of sending transfer receipts to a lad (IP addresses say Ghana) and going into the bad scan modality, I started getting mail obviously on the same bait from another set of IP addresses (in Nigeria).

Both sides are using the same names and claiming the other one is the imposter, and both are urging me to cancel the wire transfer, get the money back, and send the money with a different name / question. The Ghana contingent introduced a story about a robbery and is claiming that the original character lost his e-mail passwords in the robbery. The Nigerian contingent is simultaneously claiming to be the scammer's character, claiming to be the holding company that has the magic box, and claiming to be a fraud investigation squad who has the box and will release it for a small processing fee.

For example, here's one of several similar messages, all from different people who haven't been in the story before:

This is to inform you that there is big problems so many people are coming asking us to release your uncle consignment box that you send them

Baiting Character in fact we are waiting to know if you are the right person or Mr. Rich Corpse and is wife gave telling us that you send them as your new next of kin they also said you told them that your uncle comsignment was in are werehouse

But we told them that can not release the consignments to them due to one reason or the order. Sir you are advice to email us now before it we be to late

Mr Concerned

If that wasn't enough, someone is now impersonating my baiting character with a similar e-mail address, and that person seems to be sending mail to both one contingent and me... although the messages are from arbitrary characters involved in the whole drama. Here's an example:

Waitin recomfirm the info now.

Bogus Attorney.

The Ghana contingent is now complaining that they're getting two sets of messages from the baiting character, and they don't know which to believe. My character, not being too bright and not in the best of health, is sometimes not even sure he knows whether he's sending the messages or not.

It's not taking much work at all to promote mass confusion all around. Even better, somewhere in this whole mess, someone chopped the transfer. My character doesn't have any idea who, only that the transfer service says that the money was picked up.

Goes to show that you can never tell what's going to happen -- this has suddenly gone from being a really boring bait all about wasting a scammers time to a really fun (if totally confusing) bait. Have no clue what happened here, but it's good times!

If I were you, I would chop both of their dollas, then introduce like 5 more characters of my own and see who has a stroke first. Double dolla chops are as rare as handsome lads. Take advantage...

That's definitely a baiter name. If it's not one of your characters it sounds like another baiter, and the lad/s have gotten the emails mixed up. Very Happy

Ah, I substituted "Mr. Rich Corpse" etc. for the actual names rather than 1337'ing them. Smile

The "FBI" is now involved, as are a couple of new characters of mine.
