It's the bait that won't die, the gift that keeps on giving. Very Happy

I've brought this up before, most recently in March when I did this fun bait. (Please don't necro.) As I said at the start of that thread, this bait has been going on for over 3 years now, with new lads coming in periodically. They just won't leave me alone. It seems that have I created such a believable character and enticing backstory that there will always be some lad trying to get of piece of the same action.

The last bait petered out a few months ago but it's just been reincarnated. "Sanusi Lamido Sanusi," (Chuckles Soludo's replacement) has suddenly appeared in my inbox, and he knows all about the previous characters:

In the previous bait "John Abule" was based in Lagos, and was a low-level guyman with ordinary skills. "Onanuga" was based in Cotonou and was brought in by the oga to handle the job when I traveled to Benin. He was an extremely arrogant but unusually articulate lad who loved to show off his grasp of English.

Where it gets interesting is that this new lad's IPs are in the same range as John Abule's, so close that they must be in the same Internet cafe. I have no doubt at all that this is someone in the same gang, but it sure isn't the Abule lad who is writing now. This new lad is no dummy. He has excellent English, and thinks fast on his feet. While he sounds a lot like the Onanuga lad I can't imagine that he went from Cotonou to Lagos. I'm inclined to think that this is a new lad who has been brought in by the same gang to try to get a cut of my very, very wealthy widow's action. He will be a challenge to bait because he's very clever and definitely not stupid. But I hold the advantage since he totally believes that I've been paying out to various lads for years -- to the tune of over a million bucks now.

I've had a J0hn Abul3 for 2-3 months now. He works for the UN and is a Rev. Wonder if it's the same guy?

I doubt it, my John had nothing to do with the UN or religion, he was a lawyer for the CBN. Rolling Eyes

But if you want to compare IPs, he always wrote from the 82.128.3*.** range. He was also an idiot, but that may not be an easy way to find a match. Laughing

82.128.**** The numbers after 128 change. There has been a 3 there and more recently a 7. Phone number ending in 127 and there's another but I'd have to look for it.

Maybe "John" decided to take on a different career, that could well be my old friend. The phone he was using with me ended in 708915. Have fun with him, he's a very single-minded idiot and also very sensitive. It really hurt his feelings that I consistently never thanked him for his personally "financing" part of my fee. He whined about it over and over. Laughing
