Craigslist scam. I was selling a bike on CL. I know of these scams and started wasting the scammer's time just for fun. I just found out about this group and joined. The scammer wanted to send me a cashier's check and have their mover come once the check was cashed. As we know, the scammer says that the check has been accidently written for $2000.00 more and I need to give the excess money to the mover when they come. I agreed and they said the check should be there tomorrow (although, I've given them a fake name and a neighbor's address). They said the mover will come once I have cashed the check. I am wondering if I should have the local sherrif come out once I know when the "mover" will be at my neighbor's house. I don't want to endanger anyone. Are the "movers" usually involved in the scam? Do they carry weapons? Should I just play dumb upon their arrival and just be happy I wasted their time? What's next? Thanks for any advice.

welcome to eater. please stop contact with the scammer, you are not baiting safe. I appreciate your enthusiasm, but please understand, these people are criminals.

it seems you are playing with the scammer using your real email addy? you sent a package from the criminals to your neighbors address? what happens if by chance they come looking for you and find your neighbor?

if you truly want to play with them, read the stickies, sign up for a mentor and bait safe.

now about your scammer, there will be no movers. they'll ask that you send the excess to the mover, scam over, they got their money.

I can echo what mewing_ghecko says.

Stop immediately from your current account, then you can actually resume baiting the same lad after you learn how to bait safely, and effectively.

Thanks. Once I did it, I thought, "maybe this isn't the best way". It's something I decided to do on my own before I even knew that scambaiting was even a real practice. Sounds like fun to me! I will take your advice, and look forward to baiting these jerks properly in the future. I need to read more on these forums. Thanks.
