Ok, I am still learning so I need an opinion on the last part of this one. This is ALL from today EST.

The summary of it all is that the land contains three oil well and the geologist will bring to our notice how many barrels there. You are to take 60% and 40% goes to the community. Mr you are to provide the following information.

Which I did and he promptly (with in minuets!) called my shill number. (Big thanks to my Mentor, Pasture Frank!!!!)

I also added this little tid-bit!!!

I am sorry that we have no teams in that area at this time and it will be some time before we do. But I do have one question, do you know anyone that can translate French into English? I am having a hell of a time with work being done in North Nigeria with a crew that mostly speak French and a command crew that is almost all British and Australian. If you could recommend me a good man, I would be very grateful!!! (I could even work in to the deal a "finder's fee" for you.) All I need him to do is translate French to English.

Which he took in nicely!

For this we pay him a salary of $1000 to $1500 a week, plus expenses and a bonus if the finds bring a good profit. He must be a christian man and can not be homosexual and in good physical health as there is a good bit of walking to the sites sometimes. He also can not be afraid to fly as we use planes and helicopters a lot!

Sounds reasonable.... But that I need him ASAP...

>>> Family comes first, I know, but we need him as soon as he can get here and get hired. Once here, we will pay him for his travel and once he is hired, we will send you a fee. Depending on how well he can translate French in to English we will pay you between $500 and $1000us. We will pay you $300 no matter what the out come again once he gets here. And as we may need more translators, we will ask you again and if you can send people we can hire, we will pay you again. We offer two methods of payment currently, cash in hand (US Dollars) or gold, sometimes we pay in diamonds. (I find most people prefer gold as it can go up in value.)
>>> Now then before he starts the journey, he will need to first submit two photos (front and back) to me to make sure you are not sending me a cripple. He MUST be in good shape and able to walk. Write my company name on a card and have it in the photo. "DrS - 1138 Oil&Eas" (I am sorry for the sign, but it is the only way I know you have a real photo and not something you just found. We have had trouble in the past you know.)

Now this was new to me.... it came in at about 445pm est, just now.

Ok, now what? Do we have fake credentials? I highly doubt he can check them, or do I send this as I thought I would:

"I am sorry Mr Ben, I will check with my contacts but you must understand I am talking to you from a camp in North Nigeria.... I do not tend to cary my government license with me on a prospecting trip and keep them in my tent. If you can not provide a photo of the man, i am sorry but our business in that matter is done then we will have to continue only on the oil contract.

Mike"

And then this!

Quote:
Now i have notice your company is not registered and you have commited and offence by not going through the constitution of the federal republic of nigeria. according to section 256 code 24. please i think the an action should be taken now to see your firm is off the atmosphere.

Huh??

Wanting to at least waste some of his time, I sent him this delaying note:

Quote:
Sir, I am not sure I understand you. Do you want me to pay you BEFORE I even know that you have a man for me?

Wanting to keep the lad on line for as long as I can, I broke down and sent him this. (with a nod to Nurse Nasty)

Me to lad:
Quote:
Sir, please understand that I do not carry my company papers with me
to tent camps in the middle of the bush. My company is a contractor
for XXXXXXX Inc. out of XXxxXXXXX USA. You may be able to google
them as I do not know the web address off the top of my head. They
take care of all the government work and visa's for us. I know that
part of the contract is tht we have to hire about 80% of the staff
from Nigerian Nationals. Once I get back to South Africa, I can send
you likely any information you need on us. But I cant do it from here
on a satellite internet hook up.

You're a premium member so you have access to the bait sites. If you wish to add another character to your bait, I can setup and mail forwarder from one of the businesses to suit your bait. This will give you the separation between characters that ensures communication problems between head office and your field staff. It's good cop / bad cop scenario.

You've planted the seeds to get this scammer to travel, so far so good.

Offering a better and believable deal is what you've done, so offering small tidbits of authenticity is the next step. Scammer's love some sort of paperwork. Gives them something tangible. I've offered employee cards, which is just a single image with the website information and some text assuring them that if they hand this card to the field staff they will be employed. Getting to a location you'll need to make them feel they are special and despite all the others who are looking for work, you'll make sure they are chosen.

Act indifferently to their situation. Treat them as they treat their victims. Give them the promise of something better and make them feel special. Feed the ego a little.

If you need some specialised help, I'm here at your disposal. Very Happy

Laughing

My first bit of advice would be to slow this thing down, this bait has some potential.

Get with NN and set up that other email addy. Did you get Skype set up and running? If not, I can make a call in the morning.

^^^

yes I did. I sent him one to his other email, the one I originally responded too and said this:

{Cliffs notes: I need help, your lawyer is shit, can you help me? you can call and I can call!}

The idea being that I am desperate for help.

Twisted Evil

Quote:
Sir,

I am sorry to bother you but I have run in to a sang with Mr Ben, your
barrister. Your barrister seems to be playing some sort of game and I
do need some help here. Since I met you I would like to ask you the
same question I asked him.

My company is a small contract organization that works for larger
corporations in Africa and other parts of the world. Our current job
is on assignment for Kellogg Browns RotoRooter. As such we
do a geological work in prospecting for precious materials. Currently
my team in northern Nigeria is in desperate need of a man that can
translate English to French. For this we pay a fee based upon his
ability. All we ask for other than he speak English and French is
that he be of sound body as we do a lot of hiking in the bush.

I asked Mr Ben for help locating a man but he seems to be of the idea
that we will pay him even before he confirms he has a man to send
me!!! Can you help? Do you know anyone that can translate English to
French that can work for us for about 6 months to a year? If you do
please call me at 202 xxx xxxx and leave me your number. (It is a
satellite phone transfer so you may not get me but I WILL return your
call.) or reply to this message with your number and I will contact
you.

Otherwise we can communicate this way but know I am on a satellite
email hook up which as you know, is not the best in the world.

Well, looks like RotoRooter is licensed in Nigeria, my lad bought it and is even now looking for the right man.

In speaking with my mentor, I was given the sage advice to let him stew for a little bit and not talk to him at all. So no reply yet! (Well, unless he gets me the photos!)

It seems like this may result in an ITP going on safari and not a scammer.

^^^ I doubt it....

UPDATE!

So he sent me a photo... and it was of Taye Diggs in a suit! Well since they screwed that up guess they will have to try harder. He is still trying to get me to pay him up front before any one "leaves." I made it a little easier on them though. My plane will fly down one or two towns over to pick him up if I can get it arranged... Smile
