I have a question about forwarding your number from Google Voice to a cell number. If someone from outside the US calls your number and you have it forwarded to your cell how does it show up on your cell bill? Does it show as coming from inside the US? or do you get charged by your cell company for an international call?

Do you even get charged more for incoming international calls? It should only cost the caller more to make an international call. You will be billed how you normally are for an incoming call.

I guess that is what I was wondering too. I wouldn't think you would get charged more for international calls but you can never be sure with cell phone companies.

I don't get charged for incoming international calls other than it using my minutes up. I have plenty though. All US calls after 9PM are free, I think, too. So says the man who doesn't look at his phone bill. Lucky for me, my wife takes care of all the bills Very Happy

It does seem though that it would just use your "in" minutes

Do you have google voice? Did you get it with an invite or where you are GC member before? I've recommended it a few times in the past but people seem to shy away from it.

I tried to get in on GC but they shut down the invites. I got a couple of invites to Google Voice from when I requested an invitie to GC about a year ago. I wish it was free to change your number.

I realized that my question was kind of dumb after I asked it. I guess I was just thinking about how you still get charged minutes when someone calls you on your cell phone. It just made me wonder if you would be charged more for an international call.

There was nothing dumb about your question. I'm willing to bet 80% of the users asked the same question.

Not too many people use it here although I still haven't been told exactly why. I thought baiters would be all over a free forwarding number that connects anyone to you for free. You can also make free calls anywhere in the US.

If you don't want to forward it to your cell, you can always forward it to gizmos soft phone which has a button for your GC number.

set up one GV rule to use IPKall number. Get yourself a voip ATA (~$60 USD), a softphone (free), or http://flaphone.com/ (free)

I use google voice and enable do not disturb feature so the lads can leave a voice message. One of my current baits had called three times from lad land, two went to voice mail and one I answered. Burned about three minutes of his air time. Very Happy
