This idea of a memory book has come out of my wife's illness.

This primary is for events in the United Kingdom.

But what important events, would you include in a memory book,

Has to be from 1951 upto the present day.

Well, I should think a certain Coronation would be included. Wink

Also, I would include things like Winston Churchill's passing, royal weddings, Maggie Thatcher's election, maybe even the decimalization of the pound.

I will be honest and say my memory is about as much good as a chocolate tea pot, Icould do with a memory upgrade tbh!

Wow-where to start.A long time ago,in a galaxy far far away,I was a history major.My point of view is that of an American,but I think for a lot of it,nationality is not an issue.I would be very glad to comment on this,but am way to tired to form a coherent answer right now-
off the top of my head in no order

I can't pick any particular event during that period which might be of interest or significance to either of you, but wikipedia has published a list for each year.

1951 - Very good year - I celebrate this one every year. Laughing

1958 - Bad year for Air Travel (Munich - Man United team, and Iowa - Buddy Holly, Big Bopper and Ritchie Valens)

1966 - Obvious really

1968 - Man United won the European Cup (Bobby Charlton hit an absolute screamer from 40 yards)

Football - England winning the 1966 World Cup - and Nobby Styles dancing across the Wembley turf.

Athletics - Roger Bannister's sub-4 minute mile.

Boxing - Henry Cooper knocking down Cassius Clay as he was then.

Cricket - Garfield Sobers knocking off six sixes in a single over at Swansea?

Ice Skating (sport in loosest sense of word) - Torville & Dean's perfect 10 routine.
