Paid ours off a year ago and suddenly the interest rate on one of my credit cards shot up. Whe I questioned them about it, they admitted that because I didn;t have a mortgage, they regarded me as a higher risk credit wise.
Experion (Credit ratings company) do not think that is a valid viewpont.

I paid mine off some years back, a great feeling. Then I stopped having to contribute to my company pension, that put some extra cash into my pay packet each month. Then to top it all off nicely my kids finished university .... we were so well off ...
