Google Voice

This is like an amalgam of all of the different telecommunication tools that baiters use.

I just set mine up. Got my invite today (which is kind of funny since I applied to GrandCentral last year Rolling Eyes

).

After playing around with it a bit, I have come to realize that it was worth signing up just for the "voicemail transcripts" feature.

I called the number, left a brief, nonsensical message, and the transcript came in 100%! It got every word right despite my silly accent!

Naturally, I couldn't leave it there, so I decided to call back with a soundboard, a Joe Pesci soundboard. The quote was:

Just a note for those of us in the rest of the world - Google claim they'll roll this out to other territories in time, so put your name down and wait.

For now you do need a working US telephone number to activate the account, BUT nothing is stopping you from signing up with IPKall and Gizmo5 (which require no activation) and using those to activate your Google Voice account.

As for the waiting list, even though it took me close to a year, that was largely because I signed up during the GrandCentral days. As I understand it, the waiting list is extrememly short - or rather, extremely fast - for people who sign up now after it's been taken over and released by Google.

Yeah, As long as it's available in your city the invite will come quick. I have signed up for this service as well a few months ago and I'm interested to see how it works with the baiting.
