Waiting when you're at a point in the bait when you REALLY want to push the lad and get a new plot line going.

I got tired of a standard WU payment delay, so I created a new character named Vivian. Vivian is basically a scammer portraying my lad's supervisor, and my character Lester is quick to believe her. Vivian's appearance scared my lad into giving up bank details (which have been submitted to Alan).

My lad is trying to warn me that Vivian is a scammer. I'm now working on a plot to bring my lad's accusations to Vivian's attentions, and to have Vivian convince me of her authenticity with some very damning evidence, such as pointing out that the lad has already lied to me (he earlier told Lester that 850 GBP equals 2000 USD).

I just wish Gmail wasn't blocked at work so I could send the E-Mails now.

I totally agree with you. Patience is so difficult. I've got some lovely <evil snigger> responses planned to some mails right now, but my character is supposed to be out for the evening, and this is relevant to what is going to happen next week, and I wish it was next week right now, and I wish I could condense it all into the next hour, just for me.

I won't. I shall be patient.

But, yes, it can be the hardest thing.

One of the things I was taught here by others, perhaps it was Rumbero, was that patience is one of the most important things to learn in baiting. Patience will get you the maximum pain for the lad. Lads have no patience, so if you do, you already have a clear advantage over the lad, and can eventually control the pace and the lad. It's never over until you say it's over, or the lad stops writing back. Lads won't give up until they get the cash from their victims, so if he thinks I'm a victim I will continue to make him suffer and inflict as much pain on him as I can, both physical and mental. No mercy.

And if you need time to fill before you write back to the lad, read the forum, or grab another lad. Enjoy your time here, and good luck with your lads. Smile

^^+1. Hook several lads and stagger them so you're having fun abusing one while leaving the others twisting in the breeze.

Bohigal and Slaphappy have the right idea. I need a new lad.

What I'm thinking is take one of the lad letters with an especially heart wrenching story, and basically laugh at the heart wrenching part, probably even laugh at their misfortune. The idea being to be an unbelievably cruel asshole who is only in it for the money.

Baiting provides a great outlet for my dark side. If I have a criminal who I can abuse, I don't vent that anger toward innocent people (as I have in the past), and there aren't any consequences.

The worst part for me is when it gets into my RL at work.

Example, theirs a department that is notoriously annoying and they asked me to complete a form to notify I'd received an order I'd put in.

I started off saying I couldn't find the form on the system, they sent it and of course I had trouble opening it, they re-sent and I said I wasnt authorised to sign it (which I was), once they corrected me I sent it back with incorrect information... twice.

... well it passes the day Smile

As slappy has said a few times today, patience is very important in baiting, it's what produces the safaris the trophy pics etc.

as bohigal said, grab a few and stagger them, it will also allow you to try different ideas on each to see what works best for you.

Definitely keep a few lads on the boil.

If you are short of time, use my "two finger typist" modality. Restrict your replies to three lines, total 20 words or less. This makes you look stupid. Lads love this. lengthy replies give too much away Wink

Do this and you can keep three or four lads ticking over nicely with almost no time burden at all.

Ooh. Our information security department is pretty observant. I think if I tried something like that, I'd get in big trouble. I love baiting, but not enough to risk my job over it.

I had the same problem asking my boss to prove his identity with a photo holding up a sign, and not forget the fish on his head Laughing

About RL: I'm still new at 419 stuff. The other day my RL SO got after me about something (I left the hose on -- it's quite hot here), and I snapped back: "What kind of script is that? Lame!" No worries -- after I explained we both got a laugh, and he's promised that under no circumstances will he ever visit WU.

Patience is tough to learn but I'm geting better. I unhooked all the early ones I had quickly by getting to the silly stuff too soon. I am probably still doing that too quickly but learning.
