I just replied to a lad with the following after his initial email...

Quote:
Sam,

I have decided that I will help you transfer the funds but I will be getting $15 million for my troubles or the deal is off. Also, I do not care about how legal these proceedings are and I only care about getting the money in the end. I have been communicating with another guy who is offering me $12 million. I have already sent his lawyer a payment, but if you can give me more money than him it is worth it to forget his deal.

Michael

I have played with these guys in the past, but never really seriously. I was just wondering if this plan of attack works. I believe that my response does many things. It tells the lad that I have paid before and could be fooled again. It also tells him that I am only in this for the money and do not care about his stories (hopefully this will get him off script easier when I don't care about his mother being rushed to the hospital.) Lastly, it tells him that I'm pretty much a jerk (something he can relate to). Thanks.

Well it also tells him you're greedy, which will make him think you'll pay anything to get the money and thus possibly keep you easier. Although back off a little as you get into it as he may drop you if you're too asshole-ish.

Hey Hyperkill, welcome to the Eater Laughing

That's not a bad opening line IMHO. It does provide something that the lad can relate to, greed. It also demonstrates that you don't mind spending a little to accumulate a whole lot more!

Being pragmatic, (which is what I would say you are being more of rather than a jerk) also gives you the opportunity to make demands on the lad, further into the bait. The lad will think nothing of your quick fire demands to fill in forms etc.

Also, now you have said that money has already been sent to the guy offering you $12m, don't drop him, but take that too Laughing Use this guy as the excuse not to send money! Tell your lad that you are sending and not receiving hence the reluctance to send to him. Eventually, tell your lad you think you have been scammed by this other guy and make him pose with a sign to prove he is genuine!

Hope this helps.

Ntbs

Ntbs,

I like your sign idea lol. The lad hasn't written back yet but patience is key. Thanks for the feedback guys.
