He mailed me each morning & each night. First chatting. Then said he liked me so much...then..he loved me. He called me on the telephone. Conversation dragged...He IM'd me many times. Wanted to find out all about my home town. Wanted to come for a visit, but couldnt really afford to. The last phone call..he wanted to marry me, tho he had never seen me.

I was so confused for the longest time. So glad I found out about all of this.

Can you provide anything else about our suspected scammer? How is his name pronounced? Does he go by the name indicated on the email? Looks like something odd...possible badger....

It certainly sounds like a scammer to me. Love at first email is quite common in these parts. Laughing

I edited the email address you posted from your post. According to our forum guidelines, please post something to establish this as a scam. An email from him along with the original header should be adequate.

He uses the name on his email [Removed by Moderator] is the name he uses as his first name. He would mail me desperately if I neglected him over weekends. 'Why have you Forsaken me? I waited endlessly for your email, I couldnt eat or sleep the whole weekend. Pls call me. I need to hear your voice. I love you from the bottom of my heart'.

He had my number and called me when I was at the cottage 4 hours aways. IM"d me. Wanted to know what I was doing, where I was going. Wanted me to call him when I arrived at whatever location I as going to. In this case the Casino. What time would I be there.

When I didnt call, he IM'd me so worried. 'You said you would call me..what happened'.

It is just sickening actually how I got suckered in. But I am a very maternal, caring person and this is not a good thing if not tempered with a good dose of common sense. I really thought we had formed a bond of love before we even met...

His voice on the telephone sounds so different than his emails. Conversaton drags. There are long periods of silence. But he doesnt want me to hang up though. 'I hear you breathing are you walking'?

What is a bader...exactly...k

Interesting, wonder if it is pronounced moose dick. I am skeptical, perhaps more information. Headers and/or emails (sanitized of course) please. I am not sure what a bader is either. A Badger is a term coined here for a certain type of baiter (of which I am not).

I'm from Toronto so have a bit of info for you if you already havent scoped it out.

The 'magazine' is at face value a rag that pretends to offer alternate advise to new comers to Canada but is in actually a hate filled document that equates buying T0mmy H jeans to the whipping of black slaves. An intellectual leap to say the least.

The address resolves to an apartment block in was is considered to be one of Toronto's most dangerous areas. It is rare a weekend goes by without hearing about multiple shootings and stabbings in the area.

The phone number resolves to a cell phone. however I have found his home phone number. It might be interesting to give it a call one day and see who answers...male or female.....Some Gents (present company excluded including myself) are known to use cell phones so that there actual wives do not find out about their exploits. Just a thought.... Cool

I second what Lakefield Dave says. I'm also in the GTA.

The Jane and Finch area isn't the cradle of civilization to say the least. You might recall this gentleman: Dudley Laws. He was an "activist" until it turned out he was also into human smuggling, to move illegal immigrants into Canada and help them stay.

My first impression from your posts and looking at his "magazine" is that he's into that kind of business: a figmentary legitimacy fronting something much worse.

Just speculating, but I would say he might well be facing a deportation order that we in Canada like to call "a license to delay the process". If I'm right he's looking to get anchored here and after that, you're alone with someone who already is comfortable with criminal acts. Your cottage is an enviable asset especially with the Toronto crowd and tags you as someone worthy of scamming unfortunately.

If what you say is correct then it's a love scam, if not in the conventional sense then in terms of its mechanism; and as such it's worthy of being baited. If it helps getting a villain deported by tying his resources and time up until it runs out, and preventing him from forming a bond with a real victim, then game on. Or it could be a regualr love scam and he's using Matey's identity a a puppet.

Agnes, I would urge you to go to Scamwarners...link is at the top of this page (or here... www.scamwarners.com). It sounds like you've been a victim of a scammer...even if you haven't lost money to him, he victimized you. And this forum is probably not the best place for you. We tend to be a wild and wooley bunch of people who enjoy twisting scummy scammers up in knots for fun and a little bit of justice...but we're not necessarily the warmest environment for someone who's been hit by a romance scammer.

Scamwarners, on the other hand, is staffed by a dedicated team of scam experts who can provide real help, support, and empathy for what you've been through. Please do go there. Also, posting your information about the scammer (once it's verified that this is, in fact, a scammer) can help other potential victims avoid getting victimized by him.

Please continue whatever conversations you're having in PM's with the wise mods here, who can help you sort through how to verify this was a scammer. And once that verification takes place, I'm sure there will be several baiters here who would love to take him on and run him around in circles.

But for yourself...please do go to Scamwarners. Smile

Something's wonky in Denmark, erm Toronto.

His IP checks out to Toronto. I sent him an ASEM informing him that the payment was scheduled to be credited yesterday but it has not cleared the bank yet; if he needed to change the details then he could always send new information... and his response was reasonable. Almost.

His reply:

I am going to need the headers and early emails to establish some proof, if you need any help with headers let me know and I can walk you through it

Yes, I have been hurt. And yes, I can see U R not the warmest and gentlest bunch...but I am a tough cookie...and I now see much more clearly than I did before. I will not be scammed again so easily.

I will stop posting his details if that is what you require.

I'm very sorry that you have been a victim of a scam. However, it's not about being warm and gentle - it's about requiring proof that someone is a scammer. Wink

So sorry that the scammer has put you through this and sorry that now I need to drag you through it again to get some answers

We need to establish some proof that he is a scammer

in order to do that we will need a header from one of his emails and if you can one of his earlier emails

Also if you can tell us how he contacted you
was it through a dating site or some other way

I am sorry for the interrogation but I have spend a lot of time researching but not getting any concrete answers but any one of those things may hold the key

I will give you an email address to send it to I will edit it out of my post as soon as you reply so please take note of it

He has never directly asked me for money...I feel he was working up to it though.

Many emails describe his business. His plan to import and export computers and peripherals to African countries where they can easily be sold. And his magazine. And how he 'struggles on'. And how he needs me, 'a lovely jewel' by his side to 'give me inspiration and strength'. And how his 'rickety old car' cannot make the trip to visit me so easily, and that taking a week off work would 'be difficult but worth it' in order to visit me, a 'lovely jewel'.

I am at work now, but I have the email you provided and as soon as I am able I will forward the info.

I have many emails from him talking about how he will never love a woman again the way he loves me..tho 'I have never met you and may never meet you...in this life'.

I am just trying to decide which mails to forward. I dont have concrete proof I suppose.

But..yes, it certainly appears to 'walk like a duck...talk like a duck'.

One scary mail was when I didnt contact him for a few days. 'I was going to drive down to (XXXX) and FIND my love. But here your mail just came.' The town in question has a population of only 600. One that he duly noted several times.
