Thanks,

I've never seen this type of scam before and it doesn't look like it would be any fun to reply.

I've seen that before. I think scammers use that to try to scam scammers. No honor among thieves. Laughing
If you want to bait it, pretend to be a scammer.

You're right Jack - nothing to be baited with this. Usually you see this type scammers target other scammers with this format. It's interesting that they are now using it as a format on victims.

I have one lad like that in my Yahoo list (tried to bait him and failed) and he actually DOES send out a free sample of sensitive data EVERY morning, lol.

I don't think this guy is a scammer, he's just trying to earn money by selling sensitive data. Still not a good thing though. You could try to annoy him a bit, though I have experienced that baiting over IM is *somewhat* harder.

^^^
It is definitely a scam.

It is entirely illogical for someone to sell a live cc for less than what its worth. Very Happy

It's not.

Sellers don't bother in cashing out CC's. It simply costs too much time and is too dangerous.
Imagine this: Some guy pulls a 35,000 CC's list from some e-store's database using an SQL injection. Now would he rather sell every CC for 2 dollars each, and move on to the next shop, or would he bother to play poker against himself through a proxy, just to cash out a single card?

It's all about efficiency.

Not everyone is a scammer....
As I said earlier, that guy I have on Yahoo actually sent out a valid CC as sample. And did that multiple times.

Yes, it's about efficiency, but these details do not trade to strangers spammed from guestbooks. This is a lad looking to screw you based purely on good old-fashioned greed Wink Bait as a scammer, it'll be a short ride, but fun.

@justme, if you think you are being sent valid credit card details, then send them to a mod or the police.

If there peddling stolen cc details then somewhere a victim is being robbed.

I see nothing wrong with reporting that directly to the police, they can act on that card number.

Thats my opinion, with cc fraud I think we have a duty to report it, if you dont want to go to the police im sure the mods here will make the card information get to the right people to stop it.

if you dont want to give any details just use this link:
https://online.met.police.uk/
http://www.crimestoppers-uk.org

I dont know the american versions, but you could do it via the fbi crime reporting tool as well.
http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx

You would need to make it clear what your sending a cc number for including who sent it and via what means, they will want to know what you were doing at the time, telling police your a baiter tends to make things very very complicated.[/quote]
