I just recently got this message from several (non-english) Facebook friends:
Topic: Look at this
Body: goldbase.be
The link leads to an (obviously fake) FB-like Login page. Phishing, that's for sure, but what's the point in getting FB passwords?
Also, I can't find anything about it on google. Is this s very new one? |

Same as lots of the email phishing--the lads will change the facebook page to say the user is in trouble, then send a message to all of the vics facebook contacts saying he/she is stranded in a foreign country and needs money now to get home. |

just seen the same thing happen tonight . it hit the facebook page of a german friend if mine . i managed to get in touch with her and tell her to change her password and explined the scam to her . i told her also to pass on a message to all her friend warnging them about the scam which she did . it seems like the scammer has hacked her again . i got an e-mail saying she had to change her password a second time another link was sent out but she deleted the message . it is getting more common . |

Not necessarily. It could also be used to send out malware or just to deface it. |
