I recently moved and had to purchase a new washer/dryer set and put my old one on Craigslist (old one was too tall). Got an email last night asking if it was still available. When I responded that yes it was, I got the following email:

Quote:
Hello,
Thank you for the prompt response to my inquiry.I am very much
satisfied with the condition and price of the item and i will like to
make an outright purchase immediately,so i will advice that you
withdraw the ad from the web. Pls i will like to know how you intend
to proceed on this but i would prefer that i issue a Certified
Check/Cashier check in US dollars for the payment of the item, the
payment will be send to you via UPS courier service, and upon the
confirmation and clearance of payment my shipper will come for the
pick-up at your location.I would really have loved to come for the
viewing of the item but i am not chanced but my movers will. If you
are okay with this please do get back to me with the following
details so i can make out the payment immediately.

1: Your Full Name to be on the payment
2: Your Address and post code
3: Your mobile and land number.

I will expect your mail asap.

I'm actually kind of pleased about this because I've never gotten something like this directly, just the usual 419s into my spambox. Figured I'd string the person along enough to get the check to turn over to the authorities if it helps stop him/her from getting someone else. Plus a duck. I want some kind of duck out of this if I can get it.

A friend mentioned it could also be the scam where they show up with a moving truck and rob you blind. I almost hope they do. There's nothing left in the apartment except the washer/dryer and two bookshelves I'm giving away free. Would save me a whole lot of trouble having to haul that crap down myself.

Of course, they already have my real email address because of the first email that gave me no indication it was anything other than someone interested in the appliance, but they won't get anything else. I have a PO box if need be, but my office address will be perfect to use since the office is being dissolved in a month.
