Is there a point to the religious chain mail requests?

I received a long religious rant and a request to send it to ten other people. It originated from Nigeria. There was no other request made other than to spam other people with it. Is there a point to this other than spreading the word of god or whatever?

Doesn't it ask you to CC it to a certain address?
I guess it's for collecting live e-mail addresses.

Probably not. I'd just bin it. It seems to be from a religious nutter, not a sccammer.
