Yeah, my 2000 Ford. I've received these calls before, it's always an automated message,"press 1 to speak to an agent", and when I do, 1st words out of his/her mouth are not "hello, I'm Mark", but "please verify your make, model and VIN". As soon as I say,"You called ME, YOU verify it...".....CLICK. They hang up. One came in today, and I didn't think to bait her. What do I need to have ready for the next time these weasles call? OK, fake make, model and VIN, but what else? Has anyone else dangled a carrot for these people? How's it done, any tips?

When I get calls like that, I just file a complaint with the FTC. |

Be careful as they have your cell phone number which means they may have additional information on them.
Moreover, while these are shady businesses, they are not scams per se. Meaning, they will sell you an extended warranty -- despite such warranties being over-priced.
I would not bait these people, but if you are concerned, feel free to try to get their info and report them to the proper authorities. |
