A was cleaning out my spam box today, and found an email from a scammer that honestly blew me away...

I am Rev. Albert Essien, Foreign Operations Manager, Eco Bank Abidjan, Coted’ivoire Head Office.
I am compelled to inform you about your inheritance, valued at $28,000,000.00 (Twenty Eight Million U.S Dollars)
First, let me explain the source of this fund and what you are expected to do. Your relative, late Mr. Paul Brady
was a contractor attached to Gold/Minerals Commission of Ghana; He had a functional account with Eco Bank Abidjan until his death nine years ago.
The deceased banked with us and had a closing balance as at 22nd November 2000 worth $28,000,000.00 (Twenty Eight Million U.S Dollars)

Eco Bank has made serious efforts in the past to locate any of his relatives through the Bank Agents,
but to no avail. Recently we came across your profile and this could be the last attempt to locate Mr. Brady’s relative,
because honestly we have tried our best in the past to do so. We need any of his relatives to claim the fund
Based on the perceived possibility of not been able to find any of his relatives,

This is the clearest, easiest to understand format I've ever seen either first-hand or posted to these forums -- It's obviously written by a native English speaker. Has anyone else come across a format adopted from a native? I'm sort of hoping this format isn't going to be picked up by other scammers, as they usually are... but I guess it's about time the scammers got a clue and did... Sad

I don't see too much variation from the usual lad grammar. Looks like the usual script.

Don't worry, the polish starts to rub off within a couple of emails.

I haven't gotten through to him to test that out, but I don't doubt it. I presumed from the beginning that it was "purchased" from an educated non-scammer.

I'm a bit surprised to hear you say it sounds just like ordinary lad grammar, though. The script itself is, of course, absolutely identical... but the grammar is extraordinary. With exception of a few missing/extraneous commas and one typo, I don't see a single mistake anywhere (please correct me if I missed one). Compared to the usual nonsense I've seen, this is the equivalent of Shakespeare (and actually, parts of it are written very formally, comparatively not unlike actual Shakespearian prose).

Anyway, I guess I was just expressing surprise. That, and the Albert Essein thing made me laugh. Wink

Think you should call him Albert Einstein forthwith and ask him a lot about relativity.
