What are YOU planting this year?

Here is my lineup.

Started indoors today.

Tomato: Brandywine
Tomato, cherry: Gardeners Delight
Pepper: Chinese Giant
Pepper: Hot Lemon
Broccoli: Green Goliath
Cabbage: Earliana

To sow directly, at the end of May.

Melon: Hale's Best Jumbo
Pumpkin: Rouge Vif d'Etampes
Radish: Cherry Bomb ll Hybrid
Cucumber: Straight Eight
Carrot: Orange Rocket Hybrid
Watermelon: Burpee's Fordhook Hybrid
Lettuce: EZ Serve
Bean: Early Bush Italian
Corn: Early and Often Hybrid
Pea: TBD (can anyone recommend a good heirloom pea variety?)
Zucchini: TBD

Edit to add: Onion sets and potatoes, I usually get these at the last minute. And there is also asparagus, rhubarb and horseradish. They are perennial, and poke up every year.

it's getting close to that time again. last year was my first garden, nobody else wanted anything to do with it.

funny how i ended up with cucumbers, zuchinni, tomatoes, peppers and squash when I only wanted onions, carrots, sweet corn, peas, radishes and beans.

I won't be planting any "vegatables" or even any vegetables this year Laughing

In fact I'm not planting anything except alfalpha to cover all the gardens and keep the weeds down. Just gonna sit, watch it grow and drink scotch. Hopefully by next year I'll have my health back. Really gonna miss the tomatoes though Crying or Very sad

I plan to just wait and see what comes up on its own, probably tomatoes, green pepper and potatoes. Not enough room for anything else.

Goody, another veg grower.

Planted.

Five types of spuds.
Cabbages: Greyhound and Golden Acre.
Sweet Corn: Earliking.

In the green house. Planting from this week on.

Cauliflower: Snowball.
Broccoli: Green Comet.
Brussels Sprouts: Peer Gynt.
Onions: Bedfordshire Champion and White Spanish.
Beetroot: Boltardy.
Carrots: Early Nantes.
French Beans: Remus.
Peas: Onward. (I can recommend this one Frank) A good heavy crop grows to about 2'6'' high.
Capsicum (Peppers): New Ace.
Tomatoes: Moneymaker and Gardener's Delight.
Cucumber: Bedfordshire Prize.
Courgettes: Zucchini.
Spinach: Bloomsdale.
Leeks: Musselburgh.

I'll be starting Lettuce, Fennel and Spring Onions this week.

I invested in some bell cloches to keep the slugs away and they're doing the job. Wink

I just cleared out the attic so I'm going to give Petroselinum crispum and Cannabis sativa a ago this year.

Windypops you have a greenhouse? I always wanted one. another thing to add to my list..

I was informed yesterday that 'our' garden needs to be bigger, "there just wasn't enough room for all the things I wanted to plant". this from the lady who wanted nothing to do with MY garden...

maybe i should just plow the whole front yard and call it good. Wink

Nice greenhouse. Mine isn't built yet, just a pile of lumber and glass in the backyard. Wanted to start building it this week but it has snowed for the past 2 days. Not sure if the tulips and daffodils will survive.

Only cost me £30.00 It gets packed away at the end of the summer.
First I start all my veggie then turn it over to growing tomatoes and peppers.

I forgot that I'm growing Parsnips and Jalapeno Chillies as well.

@ mewing_ghecko. If you are limited for space you should consider building raised beds. A 4'x4'x12" box can produce a surprising amount and are fairly cheap to make.

You definitely need a greenhouse in the UK. Ours is 8' by 12". Even then it won't be big enough for all the tomatoes, chillis ( thanks Tommo), aubergines, cucumbers,peppers Sad

Mrs MM is in charge of planting/germination, I get to do the manly thing which is dig the bloody thing over. Planted early spuds ( Charlotte) last weekend and shallots and garlic.

borlotti beans
runner beans (Enorma)
sweetcorn
red cabbage
curley kale
tomatoes ( about five different varieties)
Spuds ( red rooster)

Raised beds are a great idea. I started doing them about 2 weeks ago using deck board and now I have 60 lengths of 2.4m board to re-do the southern patio

Planted out courgettes under cloches today.

Starting second wave of onions. And got some much needed rain.

I was watching a program called Coast last night where they traveled down the west coast of Ireland. They did a piece on gathering seaweed and mentioned it was the best thing for keeping slugs off plants among one of its many uses. It never loses it saltiness and won't taint any crops.

I'll have to investigate.

My green thumb has a sickly brown color. I tried to get some tomato plants going but they are still only a half-inch tall. So I got impatient and bought two from the store. I am going to attempt the over publicized upside-down tomato plant with cilantro on top. We'll see how long it takes for me to kill it.

a few weeks ago i acuired an old tractor to help with chores around the house (1945 Ford 2N). oddly enough my garden just got bigger.

the front garden is 50'+ long and 20'+ wide. planted it 2 nights ago, 1/2 of it is sweet corn, the remainder is planted with pumpkins, watermelons, cantelope, zuchini and cucumbers.

the little garden, nearer the house, will host the smaller things like carrots, beans, peas, etc.

Not sure what I was thinking when I started plowing and discing but I may have to open a vegetable stand to get rid of all the produce Shocked
