I'm confused. the signature at the bottom appears to be from a real person, at least according to google.

I know it's not unusual for a lad's 'name' to be entirely different from the name of the email account, but... is this an ITP that a lad's borrowed their information from in order to try to gain some legitimacy?

Plus I think the real Sarah Miller's grammar would be a bit better.

This 'lovely' mail will definitely be looked after.

As this mail was sent from Yahoo it's possible that the scammer is just re-using a signature on a received mail.

I think this is a sick chain email hoax, not a scam. Bethany McBride Head is real and a cheerleader according to Google.
Sarah Miller may have just forwarded it on in good faith, and her sig was attached to the forwarded email. Although this doesn't explain the yahoo address that includes her name.
Wouldn't anyone making an appeal for money include details of how to make payments?
I'm against the idea of baiting a possible ITP on the information we have.

It's 100% scam.

Below email familiar? This was sent out in Feb. Looks to me like someone took a standard email "forward me" hoax and decided it would make a good scam format.

As for the signature line, she could be the one who originally forwarded to the lad and the info got attached to the rewritten format, or the lad could be using a real ITP account as a bombing account, in which case it just might be the real owner's automatic signature. Lads love hacked/phished university accounts as they are less likely to have filters that will cut off outgoing emails if they have the wrong words or too many recipients.

I'm busily converting him to TWAT membership as we speak, and he has promised to get the TWAT membership forms back to me shortly.

In case anyone wonders if he hijacked Sarah Miller's name and occupation, it is highly doubtful that Sarah Miller at the UofR in California would use a UK based email address. It is also very doubtful that she would use her Uni title on her private email address as her signature. Her official email address should end in ".edu".

Sorry if I was confusing to people--I was suggesting that perhaps "from" address was spoofed to match the "reply-to" free address, but that the format was actually sent from a hacked university address through the university's web-based mail system. Back in my college days I didn't have web-based access to my student email, but now it seems like all uni's have a remote access system.

Do third world countries like the USA frequently airlift their difficukt medical cases to Warsaw for treatment ? .....to a General Hospital ? I don't suppose they have that type of hospital in California.
