I'm in the market for a new mobile (or cell) phone. I've had my eye on the Iphone for some time, however its price and lack of camera have put me off.

Then HTC releases the touch HD - what a sexy phone/multimedia device!

Most reviews are positive, and I can get it a lot cheaper than the Iphone. Whadda you tech buffs think?

The £27 a month one from Orange looks great, plus I can transfer my existing pay-as-you go number over.

I might throw in the £5 for 500MB of internet too, or if I can bait the guy in the call centre (I've been with Orange for 5 years), I might get it for like £3 a month, if I'm nice.

Alternative suggestions would be appreciated! I enjoy going on the internet whilst using my current phone (K810i) but the screen and interface is too small and clunky for heavy use.

I'm a bit freaky when it comes to electronics and scratches, it drives me insane. I will cherish this new (expensive) device if I get it. Any tips on that front?

All in all, it's not a bad phone. Personally I'm a Blackberry enthusiast. I love my Blackberry and The Storm is AMAZING. Beautiful touch screen, and it clicks! The clicking might not seem like much, but it's like your actually pressing buttons, which makes it more comfortable when your texting and typing emails. I have both the Javelin and the Storm and both as far and full keyboard and touch screen phones go, their uncompairable to anything else. I have Rogers so I run on a GSM network at 3G/UMA speeds. UMA is running off your personal wireless connection to talk over the phone through the internet, no drops and SUPER fast internet. Not sure if your a fan, but I'd take a look.

(you NEED the 500Mb, Smart Phones use Data transfer for everything. So the generic 15-25mb plans are NOT sufficient.

I've heard bad things about the Storm. My sister-in-law has one, and there are gaps around the screen e.t.c

Plus it's too bloody expensive Laughing

I would have a Blackberry Bold too, but again: too expensive.

Are you looking exclusively at touch screen phones? If not, I'd recommend a look at the Nokia E71. Similar to a BB, but it's much smaller and sleeker. I love mine. Smile

Gaps!? you mean the crease around the edge? I think it's like that so It's not one flat surface. I love the way Blackberry designs phones. But that phone looks great man. Take it from a guy who's had the best phone on the market for the last 10 years. It looks amazing. (the iPhone is over rated...)

ADDED: you could try the BB Javelin...I love it when I'm tired of buttons being pressed in my pocket when I forget to lock the screen... Laughing

PLUS it's a world phone and has WIFI UMA support...

Check the Javelin, It's the same as the bold but it has UMA! It's called "8900"
