While doing what you suggested I accidentally did open it. It just turned out to be an incentive for completing an offer to open a credit card. Sheesh! |

I see quite a few of those. They put it in the fake order confirmation format because they know that a lot of people will see it, panic because they think their spouse/ significant other/a thief is placing orders on their charge card, and click on the link to find out how to cancel or challenge the (non-existent) order. The link will lead to advertising or phishing sites, depending on who is sending it.
Our shelter gets "paypal" emails at least once a week confirming our paypal "payment" for a porn site. When the poor unsuspecting recipient clicks on the link to challenge it, afraid they are going to be accused of buying porn (especially when it is a business address), they are led straight to a paypal phish, of course. |
