I got one of those, "Hi, I saw your profile" emails, last Sunday, the 15th of March. Normally I delete those right off, but being bored I figured what the heck, I'll play along for a little while.
Well, the emails from her kept getting sexier and more explict over the course of three days, until she finally asked for money to "buy a plane ticket home". She used the excuse that her employer had sent her to Nigeria to buy "gold, art and other items for resale", but failed to give her the money to get home on.
I ran her all over the place, until yesterday, as to why I was unable to send her a dime.
Unfortunatly, I had already deleted all her emails and the pictures that she emailed to me, before discovering this site. Next time I'll have to save the stuff to post here.

BAIT SAFE - get another e-mail just for baiting - use no real information filling out the "application" and use a mail like Gmail, hushmail, or hotmail - they strip the IP addy so you can't be located.

If you get an e-mail from someone in your "real" account, just answer from your baiter account - they don't know who they've sent e-mail's to...
If they ever did ask, just say you got it in your work e-mail and this is your personal e-mail.

Actually, I never use my real email account for any dating or social networking site. Anytime I set up a new account on one of those sites I also set up a new hotmail account.

Welcome Fester. There are great romance baiters here, and they are willing to answer questions and offer advice.

As Ivana mentioned, bait safe and read the stickies. Also, get a mentor since they are quite useful.

Hi Fester and welcome here. It sounds like you're a natural. Read here and you'll gain even more ideas for how to mess with scammers.
Even if you're using a throw away email account, you should only bait with one that doesn't have any of your real life information associated with it. Plus, when you make up fake names to bait with, you can have a lot of fun being different people. Very Happy

If it is fun and wasting the time and resources of scammers you are looking for, you have come to the right place, the advice above and in the stickies will get you well and truly started but always remember, gmail allows you to travel the world from the comfort of your favourite chair, I have been to half way around the world and back just today, twice in fact Wink

Hotmail will not hide your IP.
Gmail, hushmail, fastmail and big string will.
There may be others too I'm not aware of.
I hope you plan on staying around and sign up for a mentor.
We love causing scammers lots of problems and frustration here. Very Happy
