Which doesn't sound good after running that through a French translator. I get something about the beds are not good quality. The TV reception is bad and there are not many channels to choose from. The food isn't bad but rather expensive.

That's pretty much it, beds too small, too low and with poor-quality mattresses -- there is also a sentence saying "You can't count on the TV being fixed by a technician -- it took him 2 or 3 days to turn up after repeated requests."

On the other hand, concerning the money and the watch,please if their reception is completely safe then you can deposit the money and the watch to them to avoid any hitch. I will like to talk to them because I dont like the way they are doing. Please do anything possible to let them come and pick me within 2hours from now.

The SSC bus driver needs some directions to the hotel Merina, he's not at all familiar with the area other than how to get to the Hilton .... maybe a photo of the hotel would help?

Here is a basic street map of Yaounde.

If you want your lad to travel further. There is a town about 300+km north called Belabo, on the Yaounde-N'Gaoundere train line. It's about 80km northwest of Bertoua. The gateway to the east. The trains are slower than a bus and you must keep a very watchful eye on your possessions as thieves will pilfer anything and everything. About 25km west of the town off the road to Nanga Eboko is the Sanaga-Yong Chimpanzee Rescue Centre. You could tell your lad that the buses have broken down and you've convinced and paid a staff member of 5imba 5afari to drive half way to pick your lad up. It's quite a isolated location with a train ride back to Yaounde. Tell him if he has too go back into town (Belabo) that he can stay at the La Girafe on the outskirts. You don't have the address but when he arrives you will organise a room there. That's if you don't arrive at the Chimpanzee Centre.

Belabo is not a very safe town and he will most likely be mugged within 20 minutes of leaving the train. Smile

It always handy having some local knowledge for authenticity.

@Duezer - This laddie of yours is utterly and hopelessly hooked now, and has committed far too much time and money to give up.

You can toy with him at will, and he will swallow just about any BS story about meeting at an alternative collection point.

I am pretty confident that if this laddie eventually reaches Korup NP, then he will take the jungle hike to Chimpanzee camp...... Twisted Evil

Oh one other thing.
Can everyone who uses the full camp name, please just switch the S for a 5, or alternatively just use SSC, as we don't want any sneaky mugu finding our camps mentioned here on Eater...... Thumbs up

I was just planning to write an email where I complain my heart out how terrible the bus service is and how drivers abort their missions for any small reason they just find.

I would like to get him moving towards the camp on his own already today. That way he would lose the money he has paid for his room for tonight. It is only 2PM in Cameroon, so there is plenty of time for him to get to the camp today.
